Seeing as this thread just got reactivated, I will just add my 2 cents, there are still problems with 3g in the Auckland CBD so much so that I have set my phone to only stay on 2g, this is not just my handset, it has happend to almost everyone i have talked to about it.

I had problems at Newmarket today as well, 3G was not connecting voice calls, dropping down to 2G allowed for voice calling and a few TXT messages all rushed in.

This was with full 3G signal in a iPhone 3G

Can't wait for Telecom/NZ Comms to open up shop

I agree. My phone has been useless the past few weeks in the CBD. It looks really bad as people think my phone is off when it is not. The only solution for me is to turn off 3G which means I am paying for a service that Vodafone obviously can't provide.

This isn't just me either... everyone in my office is having these issues.

Exactly 100% with you both. Its the CBD for crying out loud, this is where of all places 3G should work. To my annoyance I missed important messages this morning whilst on 3g only to have them rush in on 2g this afternoon once I realized vodafone was back to its old tricks.
Whats the problem John?

nate:
heavenly_wild: It is common news now that Vodafone has major network issues on a month basis

If you are going to make such a claim, you need dates and outages to back them up otherwise it's a pointless rant.

Well, here you go, more issues with the network today.  I don't need to jot down dates as it happens on a regular basis.

I can concur... I had issues most of the afternoon in the CBD as well. I have colleagues ready to throw their handsets in the bin... this is getting beyond a joke. Problems for a few days I could understand, but it's been ongoing for nearly 2 weeks (first had a problem 3rd March.)

Saying set to 2G really isn't a solution - the only way I can see to do this is to download a third party app for my phone (a Palm 750v). Not to mention this seems to be a bit of a dirty hack.

What's going on? Can we get some information so I can try to pacify my users?

I get the feeling Vodafone would prefer to keep telling us that something is wrong with our handsets and hope enough of us turn off 3G until the problem "goes away". Not really a good look considering business customers are the most incovenienced by this and being in the CBD, its affecting a fair few. Hopefully Telecom's new network will be a good alternative.

Still happening today, my phone is now permanently locked on 2g until this is fixed, oh well at least I am not going incur any data charges.

Vodafone might want to think about refunding those paying hefty amounts for monthly data that they can't use.

And, yep, it seems to be stuffed again... verified with multiple staff members (at the University campus) and with an external vendor that was in for a meeting.

What's going on?

I have said it before and I will say it again... this is third world service.

I don't care if it is Vodafone's vendor letting them down. At the end of the day, we are paying for Vodafone's service and we are not getting it.
