Its not going too well.

2 factory resets, and finally the x53 can see the internet.

Homephone SIP transfer successful.

But then things get weird.

I've changed the IP to 192.168.1.1

When my laptop is connected to port3 on the X53, everything looks good.

But when I plug it into the switch (which is plugged in to port2 on the X53) it cant see the internet.

In fact, all devices on the lan side of the switch cannot access the internet.

Interesting, I disconnected and powered off the X20s and everything has settled down nicely.

Ok, a couple of questions:

1) Is the switch managed or unmanaged? It sounds like something is weird in the switch - I think it could be managed and the subnet is not matching

2) Try plugging in the switch to the 3rd port and see if you get internet

3) plug in the laptop to the 2nd port of the X53 and check if you get a connection

Its an unmanaged switch.

I did move it to port3 (before I nixed the X20s) and that made no difference.

Likewise with laptop into port2.

However, right now everything is good, bar the X20s sitting lifeless on the floor.

Paperclip up the bottom time for them.

Did you reset the X20's and go through the binding process again, as they would still be set n router mode otherwise

I havent reset the X20s yet, but why would they be in router mode?

They were just wifi access points cabled back to the Ultrahub.

The Ultrahub was doing all the DHCP and other stuff.

That said, If you reset and re-bind them again, it will ensure the setup is fresh and potentially solve maybe a configuration issue

Ergo, I dont believe either or both of my X20s were setup as routers. Even I know you dont put multiple DHCP servers on a network unless they are delivering separate IP ranges, and even then why bother.

I am quite sure I set them up as access points right out of the box. The network had no issues previously.

Considering the X20s were originally promoted as access points for "whole house wifi" it is odd that router is their default configuration.

So I will look out for that when I factory reset them, they may come back as routers by default.

To complete this saga....

I had to factory reset the X20s and add them to the X53 setup in the app.

You were all correct, the X20s had for some weird reason converted to being routers, even though I had never set them up to be such.

If you ever have to factory reset the X53, you need to factory reset the X20s as well and rejoin them, it seems once they lose contact with the X53 they become possessed with routery superpowers which they will not give up once the X53 is back in the mix.
