jamesvini: No, they are just aiming to get people to learn more about smart phones and what they can do.

Cheers.  Looking forward to the Wellington evening...

About the "wonder why there's never one in Dunedin" quote I was talking to whoever runs the @vodafonenz Twitter account and they said they would check it out because they thought there should be one

And no joy, I'm afraid, on the Dunedin front.

but I made sure to tell them so next time when they don't run one in Dunedin they'd better have a bloody good excuse!

cheers

Paul

So...anyone who was invited and duly resgistered...have you heard any more about whether you're successfully registered and able to attend?

I registered weeks ago and received a confirmation email on the day. Although this afternoon I received the email below. Replied asking what's up but no reponse. Guess I have been uninvited too. Also it talks about a offer but doesn't actually say what the offer is.

After a Tivo email mixup and now this I'm starting to wonder about corporate communications and email. It is so easy to flick an email out that errors seem to be increasing.

The Email

Thankyou for registering your interest in our Get Smart event.

We regret to advise that due to high demand we have reached full capacity for tonight.

We would welcome you to register for future events, however please
be aware that you can still visit our 4 Wellington stores and receive the special deal until Sunday 4 October 2009.

Our friendly staff in store are happy to show you how to use our latest range of Smart Phones.

Just print this email and bring it with you to one of our stores:

Wellington CBD
358 Lambton Quay

NB. Please be aware this offer is not transferrable, is invalid if fowarded and you require a Photo ID to redeem the deal.

Welldone Vodafone, a good night overall.

I always expected the sales push...thats was the whole purpose of the night...but Vodafone did well to put on the hospitality, and provided an open bar and nibbles...naturally, I was one of the last to leave, requesting more drinks even when the bar had been put away!

I liked the HTC Magic the most...played with the iPhone, HTC Magic, Nokia N97, Blackberry, and a Dell Netbook with built in 3G.

Has not swayed me though...the N900 is for me.

Great night Vodafone, welldone!

I will upload and link a video I toolk here some time soon.
