TheBartender: Welldone Vodafone, a good night overall.

I always expected the sales push...thats was the whole purpose of the night...but Vodafone did well to put on the hospitality, and provided an open bar and nibbles...naturally, I was one of the last to leave, requesting more drinks even when the bar had been put away!

I liked the HTC Magic the most...played with the iPhone, HTC Magic, Nokia N97, Blackberry, and a Dell Netbook with built in 3G.

Has not swayed me though...the N900 is for me.

Great night Vodafone, welldone!

I will upload and link a video I toolk here some time soon.

I did not ask...I think it was he 3GS...

To be honest, out of all the stands, the iPhone was the one I was more 'hostile' towards...pointing out all its faults, lacking features etc...

I freely admit, I am not an iPhone or Apple fan...I despise their philosophy.

TheBartender,
Some earlier posters referred to a deal - was there any offer made on the HTC Magic?

I'm sure if there is then I can twist our account managers arm 8-).

Thanks.

NH.

No, fraid not.

I tried getting info, but the Vodafone reps did well to keep to script.

The only info I got, was 'wait until next month'...
I was pushing hard on what new plans are coming...that seems to be the general consensus...new data plans are coming shortly, as well as deals on paticular mobiles...the Blackberry was mentioned.

Time will tell.

I'm stilil somewhat taken aback at the email received just hours before the event telling me that due to an overwhelming response, I was uninvited...

This could have been better conveyed and in better time. To get an emai llike that on the day is frankly insulting.

same as Handsomedan uninvited at the 11 th hour.  Very disappointed and you would have thought they would have got 100's of replies back of people wanting to attend, bad planning Vodafone not a good look.

What is this Just print this email and bring it with you to one of our stores:

be aware that you can still visit our 9 Auckland stores and receive the special deal until Sunday 4 October 2009.

So, for those that attended, what was the offer?

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Apologies to those uninvited... a bit of confusion somewhere in the Matrix.

If you want to email me, I'll make sure we send you whatever info we have and the deal as well.

Welly evening was very good and quite informative. Really good to get a hands on play with some of this equipment. One thing I picked up them saying voice revenues are falling (worldwide) due to regulation, but data is picking up and is seen as the next big thing for them.

In other words people haven't talking much because the price is too high, and now that smartphones are becoming more ubiquitous they see high connectivity ratios as becoming a major income stream. On the back of this it looks like data packages are being revamped/expanded (announcements coming soon) and we were told, the prices will keep coming down.

To me it sounds like good news all round. However, I think Vodafone might want to carefully consider the PR in their marketing strategies as they may possibly leaving themselves open to accusations, from the lefties, of driving social disconnect.

[EDIT] Forgot to say - thanks Vodafone for a very enjoyable evening.
