I live in Henderson, west Auckland, been using Xnet HSI River on Telecom phone line for couple of years. The speed I got is pretty slow - around 2M. My modem is D-LINK G604T, which is ADSL2+ compatible as I have upgraded the firmware. Since Xnet is not gonna upgrade the HSI with ADSL2+, I'm thinking to switch to Fusion.

I wonder if Fusion is available in my area, also what speed you guys got with Fusion? thanks.

Yes Fusion is available anywhere you can get ADSL.
Fusion is FS/FS so you will have a greater up stream speed. The 2Mbps you are getting now is more likely due to other factors - e.g. distance from exchange, wiring etc.
A lot of Henderson area is undergoing cabinetisation, so that will help too.
What part of Henderson are you in?
If you need further help, I do on-site support, phone wiring, Fusion installs etc in this area - so you welcome to send me a PM.

I'm in western heights, which has been cabinetised - i'm syncing at about 1.8mb/s - and am on fusion. However, prior to the house i'm in now (which is about 2 blocks away from the old one) i was only connecting at adsl 1 speeds.

In any case, you can get fusion. Just don't expect faster speeds necessarily because of it.

1.8M, that's pretty sad...

My bad - let me clarify.

I'm getting a sync down at 18544 Kbps. Which is 2.26 Megabytes per second.

My understanding is adsl2+ is a theoretical max of 24 megabits, which is 3 Megabytes per second.

My original figure was a little off. :)

April next year for your cabinet.

I'd would have thought a bit more than 2Mbps speed though. Post back the sync speeds, line attenuation, noise margins etc from your ADSL router stats.

thanks coffeebaron. actually I'm not sure what is sync speed, isn't it the speed test result?

Your sync speed is that in the router stats: 3771 / 165. Can you do some speed tests during the day? You should get closer to 3Mbps speedtest to xnet. The lower speedtest results could indicate congestion at the exchange.

i see, will try speed test during the day..

by the way, you mentioned my area getting the cabinet April next year, is it from xnet or telecom? I thought all the ISPs are mainly using telecom's line, also I use telecom's line, thus rely on telecom's cabinets?

Also, is it right that without the cabinet I can only get ADSL1 speed under any plan? doesn't matter river or Fusion? thanks..

Yes, a Telecom cabinet. Xnet wholesales the dsl connection, so you will also benefit from any cabinet upgrade.
Your connection is already adsl2. The low sync speed is due to your line distance, quality, other users etc.

Can you do a Mon - Fri daytime speedtest? Or first thing in morning before heading off to work?
