Hi there,

So my dad wanted broadband and went to the local Vodafone outlet as he thought they would suit his needs. Signed up on the spot, they disconnected his dial up said a modem would arrive in a couple of days and just follow the instructions provided.

Now two weeks later and after a few phone calls the modem arrived. Then he could not get it connected. Then after more calls Vodafone says that he has to wait and it could be days, weeks or months.

So first question, is the exchange full? Seems likely to me or is it just a matter of there is a que and he just needs to wait a few days. The main concern is he was not told there would be any wait time now he has no idea how long it will be. If anyone can help please contact me as some clarification around this would be good. Vodafone have offered to set up dial up so at least he can get connected, they did say if he cancels then a nice $190 odd penalty would apply which is interesting as how can you charge a penalty for something that is not being provided. Anyway lets hope we get there sooner rather than later.

Hi there,

As phone exchanges are housed by Telecom, it is genreally unknown upon sign of time up as to whether broadband is available within the area until a technician goes out to the exchange to connect, factors such as capacity issues, old equip etc can all be a factor as to whether it is available or not..

I have searched, and can advise Welcome Bay (the nearest ph number I could find) starting with 07-579 has a wait time of 26 days for one customer..

I'd suggest to call Vodafone and ask what position you are on the latest waiters report, they may be able to give you an indication, i'd also suggest to get set up with dial up in the meantime, using the broadband username and password, hope that helps

Thank you negativgurl for the reply. Dial up has been activated now so that si good and I will give them a ring to find out the wait time as suggested. Cheers.
