My parents just moved into a new subdivision.. with fusion over fibre...
the thing is, my PC will donwload at 30mb
But their Apple Mac will only download at 9mb

I have checked every thing on mac..
Then the tech who setup house said they are actively not supporting macs on this network..

\has anyone else had any similiar experiences? anyway to get speed up to 30mb?

Dean

UPDATE: reinstalled MacOS X.. and seems to have resolved all issues..

How are you connecting your mac to the network? We make no differentiation on what device you have behind the gateway, in fact we can't even tell what device you have plugged in.

If you are doing a PPPoE connection directly from the mac this is not the recommended or supported method of connection, all computers should be going via the Linksys gateway.

Regards

Josh

I am connecting to Linksys gateway.. just like my PC is. Not doing PPPoE.

Yes I expect that it shouldn't matter what device you have behind the gateway.. the fact remains.. I am gettign 2 different speeds..
I checked ethernet settings and couldn't see anything wrong.. I had a play with ethernet settings on Mac but made no difference. So I set back to automatic.

Any advice?

Dean

Have you checked and swapped over the hardware connections? could be flakey cabling/ a dodgy ethernet port on the router?

Also at what speeds is the mac syncing to the router at?,

Have you tried transfering some data from the PC to the MAC to see how fast this is?

Just tested my link here in the office with a mac, these are the results:

Mac FTTH Speedtest

Just using auto negotiation on the ethernet. I am using OSX 10.5.8, as the above poster suggests, perhaps check to see what transfer speeds you are getting across your network card, it could be a driver issue or even a faulty cable.

Cheers

Josh

Where can one get Xnet Fusion over Fibre?
We have the Northpower fibre going past our shop here but as far as I know we would have to change from Xnet to Telstra to be able to connect to it???

Edit: Never mind, just looked on the website :)
