I seem to be having some issues with one particular 3G site - Waima/Laingholm (West Auckland). Often when I'm in that area, my calls don't get through, or the person I'm talking to hears me cutting in & out. Excellent coverage area too. Did a bit of troubleshooting today.

Using my regular SIM, calls consistently had issues.

I then swapped in my car-phone SIM - problem when away.

I'm guessing a SIM card issue with my old SIM card (one of the original SIM2 batches). Is this a probable cause, or could something else be causing this? NB: handset N85

Cheers

This is no way related to a SIM card issue

Is your carphone 2G only? maybe the issue is only happening when attached to the 3G site

There is no 2G coverage there - so is happening on 3G only. Have only experienced this issue on my N85 with my SIM2 card. When I put my car-phone SIM into my N85 and are on this 3G cell, there is no issue.
I will try my SIM2 in my 6121 next time I'm out there to see what happens.

The other thought is that my phone will also open a data connection during a call (due to the VoIP client), so am wondering if this too could be an issue - the car-phone SIM may not have data enabled, so that could also explain this difference.

So you have a 3G carphone?

Carphone as fully inbuilt?

Carphone is not 3G, it is very old Nokia 6081.
