Hi All,

My data usage the past couple of months seems to have gone through the roof, in November it was supposidly 47G and Dec 57G.
I do have a wireless router but it has WPA2 encrption enabled.
I do download the ocasional torrent but have only downloaded a few ( 2 - 3 G worth )
In the paper the other day there was an artical about how telecom customers had their usage incorrectly calculated, would this be how Xnet do their calculations as they resell Telecom internet?
Anyway I look forward to your feedback / experence
I have contacted xnet but am waiting for an engineer to return my call.
Cheers
John

My usage has always been around 2-3GB per month and I'm on Fusion. No problem here. Are you sure the router is still secure and was not e.g. at some stage reset to defaults? The other day when my connection was down I just walked up the road until I found an open connection. Did not use much, but it is available for anyone to use.

Where do you live, Neil - mothers lock up your daughters & geeks secure your wireless! Laughing

To the OP - Xnet should be able to tell you if it's something on their end. Otherwise, your wireless has become unsecured (I assume you've already checked this!), or some malware on your computer is phoning home.

Hi Guys,

I spoke to xnet and they told me I was uploading way more than I was downloading.

I checked for a Virus, Maileare etc etc etc then found a copy of utorrent on my old laptop that must have been running for a couple of months, when you click x it does not stop, it minimises to the task bar ( and hides ) I leave the thing rugging as it has trouble turning on most of the time ( dry joint on the power switch maybe. )

There is a tick box you have to tick to get it to close.

Highly highly highly embarresed.

I don't normaly use utorrent, I normally use bittorrent.

Oh well, there is not a lot I can do about it now.

Thanks for your help.

Regards

John
