Help or Advise Please Anyone:
Background : Long-term WorldXchange Customer
Currently: Fusion with two VOIP Lines, Several 0800 numbers, Fax to email gateway. ADSL Full-up / Full-down.
Hardware: WAG54GP2 (directly connected to only telecom socket. Telephones directly connected to WAG54GP2) no telecom lines , no other telephony).
WorldXchange Trouble Ticket: SD172457

Problem: VOIP Quality has dropped to a point where all lines are unusable.
I've grown not to expect to much data throughput. post a trouble ticket of April 09 I typically get Download Speeds of around 1600 -1800 kb/s (never Higher) and always upload speeds around 600-700kb/s (never Higher). Whilst hugely unimpressed by this, I can accept WXC's explanation that the issue is the Telecom DSLAM - over which they have no control. So for the last year I have been struggling with very slow data and poor voice quality issues.

Today VOIP is completely unusable I've been struggling all day with over 30 failed call attempts from customers. They can hear me but I cannot hear them.

Todays speed test results:
Ping 113  121 132 121 115 118
Download 689 488 388 412 772 600
Upload 644 646 612 628 661 570

My Observation: Any download speed below 1000 kb/s seems to cause VOIP to have poor quality issues

Question: Should an increase in local Lan-side traffic (backing up files from laptop to server across the LAN) have any detrimental effect on VOIP voice quality.

I'm not expecting a miracle but believe its fair to expect sufficient service that I can make clear voice-calls even though the ADSL speed is crap.

I see our team has already logged the issue with Telecom, also please phone in and ask for Simon and ask him to talk to you about the wag54gp2 as it may be having issues, this we can help with ...tell him I said it was okay....he will know what I mean... Wink 

I did look at your xxxxx170 and xxxxx158 numbers for inbound calls there are about 10 calls and all appear to have packet loss so at this point there appears to be something wrong with the line, possible the wag54gp2 as I said, but the stats look more like connect issues

Simon has done well. Newly installed hardware is functional. I'll keep a close eye on VOIP quality, but I'm very hopeful.
