I have an iMate SP5 which seems to be locking up on startup (locks up on a screen with 'HTC Innovation' logo and 'StartupSplash' in the menu bar.

I've tried holding down the camera button on powerup but I just get a screen with three colours where I can't do anything. I've tried the instructions located at but they don't seem to work at all.

If I wait about 10 minutes (literally) it actually boots into Windows Mobile but the green 'start call' / red 'end call' keys don't work.

Could anyone assist me in performing a hard reset?

I've seemingly fixed the problem, but have still another; I inserted a SIM card, removed it, and the iMate seems to have cached all contacts which were on the SIM. Is there any way to 'remove' them all? I try to delete them one by one but it says it can't find the SIM (yet displays the contacts even with the SIM removed)

what happen is that the contacts are copied over to WM5 Smartphone's Contacts. You can't actually access the SIM's contacts anyhow...

That is why, when there's no SIM or if you have other SIM you still got all the earlier contacts. (Outlook Contacts, as you can sync with MS Outlook)

There's no easy way to delete them from the Contacts other than one-by-one delete... Alternatively, you could "Clear Storage" which is equivalent to Hard Reset on PocketPC, but you will need to load all the Network Customisation (in this case, Vodafone NZ's customisation pack) from Club Imate.

mmmm you could try search online and see if there is a 3rd party software for removing all contacts.
