Is anyone else encountering time outs when accessing international websites?

For the past few days, I cannot access Wikipedia at all and 70% of the time Facebook time outs. I can access Flickr, Twitter and other international websites with no problems. If I use another machine or device on the same network, I get the same time outs.

The only other website I've had time out issues with has been dyndns.org

I've tried rebooting my cable modem (Motorola SURFBoard 5101) and my wireless router (Apple Extreme) to no avail.

The TCL service status reports no faults. Does anyone have an idea on what could be causing this?

Yes!  It's not just me then.  See my thread "Analytics" a few posts down.

Wikipedia is really bad.

freitasm: Are you guys using the Clear or Paradise DNS servers or a third party (such as Google DNS, Open DNS, etc)?

Was using paradise, switched to clear's last night, no improvement.

The wikipedia is mainly hanging when trying to load images from upload.wikimedia.org, eg
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/09/Operation_Crossroads_Baker_Edit.jpg
never loads, the images on the home page never load except for the wikimedia logo at the bottom, which comes from a different server,

Over port 25, and a standard traceroute, both work which indicates to me, it's got to be that transparent proxy again intercepting port 80 and screwing it up...

I've opened an email ticket at T/Clear (ticket: 100303-000461) , lets see how many days it takes them to answer.

Cable in Wellington (never sure whether I'm nominally Paradise or Telstra but I think Paradise).

I've had no wikipedia for at least 48 hours, possibly 72. Numerous other sites (ex-NZ probably not very well trafficked sites) are also missing in action.

At the moment I'm SSH'ing onto a box in the states and browsing from there but the whole situation is very boring.

FWIW I would have said that the last three months have seen a gradual deterioration - approx ten times a week my connection will have a 'bad three minutes' and then go back to normal operation. The SSH session just keeps rocking on through the middle of these.

Just don't hold your breath, from past experience, the wheels of TelstraClear support turn very, very slowly. Has anybody else called/opened a ticket?
