Howdy dewdy,

I've recently moved house and currently have no interweb or phoneline enabled. I'm wanting to go with the Xnet Fusion plan, as it's an ideal and low cost way to bundle my broadband and phone into one (plus only one monthly bill to one company).

I have a Linksys AG300 router. I notice on the Xnet website that this model isn't listed, but its successor the AG310 is. So I assume my router is too old to work freestand will need something added to get VoIP activated?

With no phone line at home to ring Xnet and set this up, I will need to setup online from work. Will Xnet assign a phone number to me? Then I just hopefully plug and go? (after setting up user settings of course)

Cheers!

The best idea will be to contact Xnet's Sales Team via one of the contact numbers on this page:

http://www.xnet.co.nz/about/contact.shtml

They will get your broadband provisioned, and once that is up and running, you will need to advise them of the MAC address for your VoIP device. Make sure you choose one of the supported devices from their hardware page.

Once you have advised the MAC address and device type, it should be only a day or two to get your phone working. A phone number will be assigned to you from the appropriate range for your Local Calling Area.  It may be possible for Xnet to put the wheels in motion for your VoIP service before your broadband is provisioned, but you would need to check with them on this point.

It will be helpful to give them your mobile number as a point of contact while the process is being worked through.
