Vodafone files injunction to protect monopoly status

Vodafone Fiji has filed an interim injunction against the country’s Telecommunications Ministry and the Attorney General’s Office in a bid to stop the award of new mobile licences and protect its exclusive rights to provide mobile services. The Solicitor General has confirmed Vodafone’s filing, which seeks to bar the Minister from making decisions on licence applications from other mobile phone companies.

Well maybe Voda Fiji should be forced to split into separate wholesale and retail units. Or the government could unbundle the mobile network.
