Prepay never included PXT on account Bestmate always has

Ohhhh, that explains a lot.

I thought my mates on Prepay were crazy when they said their BestMate didn't include pxts and they said they were being charged for them.

Oh well, thanks!

Your mates are correct not crazy

It always surprises me that people in this country think that 44c+gst/min is a good price to pay for a phone call. As far as I can make out, there is not technical reason why the cost has to be any more thant 12c+gst/min.

I wouldnt think the ARPU would drop all that much factoring in potential increases in call minutes used.

So will Vodafone NZ be compensating Kiwis that ditched their landlines to join Talk?

No, taking up the Talk bundle didn't require you to 'ditch' your landline, so there is no reason why you'd be compensated.

I think their advertising implied that however?

Anyway, I may have missed it but it seems 12c txts only apply to Simply Prepay and not Supa Prepay?

There is no technical reason but that sort of price would be some of the cheapest calling in the Western world for mobile calls.

He was talking about Vodafone's marketing around Talk - specially the "invite" if you "Got a prepay mobile with Vodafone? Ditch your landline"

CamH: I know my opinion probably means absolutely nothing, but I think this latest pricing change is just stupid.

  1. No addons on Simple Prepay? Why? If I could get TXT2000 on Simple prepay then that would be great. Then it would be at least cheaper calling (would probably still use 2Degrees for calling though), cheaper TXTs to my Telecom friends (I could throw away my simcard pouch!), and still TXT my Vodafone friends without emptying my bank account monthly.

As far as I can see, Vodafone is targeting low-users of mobiles with this plan, which is dumb, because they could make so much more money if they target the rest of us mid/high level users. I carry around 3 simcards with me most of the time so I can TXT/Call Vodafone/2Degrees/Telecom without paying a truckload.

I think I'm just gonna have to keep with my 3 simcards until Vodafone comes up with something actually good.

Except they're not. I'm a low-user of my mobile, except I use it for data. So i'm still stuck on the higher charged prepay plan  because I use the 100MB/month addon.

So 2d's gets my money for txt/voice (maybe 10-50 txts a month, a few minutes of voice) instead :P

So what now then?

Does that mean someone has a case if they chose to lay a complaint?

I'm just curious, since I'm not actually on prepay.

bonkiebonks: Simply Prepay is just rebranded Motormouth + 12c TXTs.

except that Motormouth calls are charged per second after the first minute whereas on Simply Prepay calls are rounded up to the next minute

so......a short call (say 1m30s) costs you 74c on Motormouth and 98c on Simply Prepay

Dont forget to read the smallprint!

For years
I have hope in Vodafone to go forward and to improve and lower cost of calling
but over the past two days, I am extremely disappointed
shame on you vodafone!

first, pulling the plug on your $12 add on, then
restricting your bestmate allowance
I know you would come back and say it is 60 min per day blablabla, and it is $XXXX value you are getting for $6, $12 or $18
but the point is, why do this?

makes NO sense what-so-ever

you are already not doing as well by failing to sign on customers the last quarter, they are getting off from Telecom, and you are not gaining? it is a no-brainer where they went...

I think I will soon make the decision to leave......

http://www.vodafone.co.nz/plans/prepay/best-mates.jsp
You may have heard that from 1st of July we are changing BestMate for Supa Prepay customers.
From then, you will be able to get BestMate 1000

  • Up to 1000 calling and video calling minutes

  • Plus 1000 TXTs to your chosen BestMate for just $6 per month.

If you have 2 or 3 BestMates you will be able to get BestMates 2000. Thats up to 2000 calling and video calling minutes and 2000 TXTs to 2 Vodafone New Zealand mobiles for $12 per month. Or, BestMates 3000 – up to 3000 calling and video calling minutes & 3000 TXTs to 3 Vodafone New Zealand Mobiles for $18 per month.

Just so you know, Supa Prepay calls are rounded up to the next minute. That means if you talk for 1 minute and 10 seconds, your available BestMate minutes will reduce by 2 minutes.

If you already have a BestMate, you won't need to do anything. We'll contact you directly before the 1st of July to give you more details.

An excellent comment, and one I have been trying to do.

SO where exactly IS the detailed rateplan table? What does a video call cost per min (I use it occasionally)? How much is the overage on data beyond 10mb (is it $10/mb?). What about when I'm roaming?

I'd be sold on this if they had flat-rate data. But they do not, so i'm staying 2degrees and hoping one of them offers decent flat-rate internets: causal rates annoy me as my usage varies greatly each day.. Sometimes i'll use near 10mb a day, but usually it's about 1mb, 5 if i stray from mobile sites and apps. I've got free BBLite til mid June, after which i'm going back to 2degrees.. Simply Prepay nearly kept me with VF, but the data continues to let me down. Ah well. Can't have everything. :)
