I changed my ISP from World Exchange to another ISP almost 2 years ago. World Exchange then continued to charge me for another 6 or 8 weeks or so after this. I made multiple calls to their help desk in this time and the response was the same each time "we will look into this and get back to you". This never happened, so as you can expect World Exchange then referred this to a debt collector.

The I went through a long process of communication with the debt collector where we got to the difference of about $10 plus ~ $27 collection costs. At this point WXC claim I owe ~$70, I maintain its ~$60 and the debt collectors want another $27. Then the debt collection agency just stopped talking to me.

The after some time I get a call from Dun & Bradstreet, so I recounted the story and they said they would sort it....they didn't. Also, the bill with D&B had somehow jumped up another $25 or $30.

Now its like groundhog day, every 3 months I get a call from D&B, tell them my story they close the account, then 3 months later WXC reopen it again. They have threatened to take me to court twice, which I have said..yes, take me to court so we can sort this, but they never do.

I have just read a similar post involving Slingshot where some one from Slingshot got involved to rectify the situation, so i thought I would post this with the hope that someone on here from WXC would get involved and try to resolve this.

To date I have had no success in talking to anyone at WXC and quite frankly I am sick of this issue.

If I were you I'd just keep going up the command chain at XNet until you find someone who can fix the mess!  I tend to just keep asking for people's managers until I get high enough to get some action!!

Either that or just let it fester until someone drags you to court and then lay down the damning evidence of gross incompetence!

If you want to get the attention of senior people at an organization for this kind of thing the best way is to courier (signature required in case you need proof later) or hand deliver a letter to their "Address for Service" as listed in the company record at www.companies.govt.nz. Normally this works. If it doesn't work then you could try doing the same with the directors to their listed addresses. You could also request a copy of your credit file from www.mycreditfile.co.nz and make sure its not listed. If it is you could get the Privacy Commissioner involved. You could also file a claim with the Disputes Tribunal for an order that you don't owe them money. This will cost you $30 to file.

For the legal people here: Anyone got an opinion on what the consequences might be for WorldXchange given that one of their shareholders as listed at the Companies Office appears to be a breach of s92 Companies Act 1993.

While it's an unfortunate situation to be in (and I'm in no way defending WxC) you have admitted above that you do owe money. Until this is paid I don't see how this issue will magically disappear.
