Hey DonGould, as you seem to be having a similar issue to me I was just wondering have you noticed some international sites will load on different computers in your house?

For example I can't access facebook on IE or Chrome or FF but I can on flatmates computer using all browsers. My flatmate can't access http://www.floppop.com/ on his computer but I can on mine? Facebook seems to get stuck loading style sheets from http://static.ak.fbcdn.net - the only thing I can think of is that we are running different versions of windows? I'm confused!

You're in chch? Pick up the phone 348 7235.  Can't be sure but I think I know what the issue is...

The problem was resolved when I connected with wireless as opposed to a wired connection. Still having some troubles, but no where near as bad as before. Still I am still confused about why certain webpages will not load with a cabled connection to my router. I might try connecting the cable again and see if the same problem still exists. Oh and I'm in wellington by the way.

Problems are getting worse now. Cable (at least internet) was down for about an hour straight last night, and has apparently been down several times today. Network status page is rather unhelpful, except for reminding me that the problems have been going on for more than a month and there's still no resolution in sight.

Our technicians have been able to adopt individual solutions for various customers and are focused on developing a solution to the overall issue.

What does that even mean? How would they "adopt individual solutions" if it's a problem with the network? And how is it possible that the network can remain (somewhat) broken for this length of time? GG TelstraClear.

Translation: We've hacked something together for some customers but we have still not figured out how to fix the real problem.

But I don't understand how could they could hack something together that works only for specific, individual customers. Maybe they are referring to business customers or something? And what is the real problem? I wish they would be more communicative.

This could be something as simple as moving the customer's connection to another part of the network.  I've no idea what the real problem is, I gave up on their useless network a few years ago and went to Xnet.

Hmm, the net was down several times earlier today. But now TelstraClear's network status is showing "no known problems", updated just before 10AM today, which was before at least one of the outages... Is anyone else still getting disconnections?

I'm having a problem atm trying to access stickam.com (made the mistake of clicking 'reboot' instead of 'postpone' after a windows update - annoying as I was mid-conversation at the time), but not sure if it's a local thing... I've had occasional problems accessing the site previously, usually briefly, but not as bad as this (or as aggravating).

They're accessible again this morning - it's just something buggy that happens after midnight now and then, and no amount of rebooting or changing settings will fix it until the morning when they magically reappear...

Well, after the storm here in Wellington on Friday lunchtime I have lost my cable internet connection. Went down about 12:30pm Friday, still down. Apparently I am on node W1 and there are still problems with that. Thank goodness for 3G! Many calsl with TC support team, and have now booked a tech for ..... FRIDAY! Let's hope the tech can be cancelled.
