Sky Tower evacuated

Gather there's been a fire at the Sky Tower, which is now evacuated. Araneo, Vodafone, and Kordia are off the air... probably others too, given how important the Sky Tower is.

Chippo: Confirmed. ISPs are all running on UPS at APE at the moment. It's a bit of a race to see whose batteries last the longest.

Vodafone lost.

Possibly johnr forgot to reconnect the UPSes after using them to run his own botnet?

Seems to be some issues with/at SkyCity currently. I think things may be on the way back now

There was a fire in the Transformer Room. I can still access the Vodafone Website. Quite a bit of equipment in the skytower was affected by a power outage.

It just goes to show, comparing to Telecom XT outages (why not?), that those telcos seem to have a single point of failure.

Vodafone's single point of failure seems to be their reliance in one path to Sky Tower...

It all makes it really awkward for Vodafone, who made a point of calling themselves a reliable network, doesn't it?

Hey Guys,

As a guy who works for a VF partner I can tell you that there's a major outage as we speak. VF says there's a "Nationwide Network connectivity outage affecting multiple products and services"

ETR is unknown...

We're not quite comparing apples are we here? Data outage Vs Voice Outage?

Internal Core Network Failures (RNC's) Vs External Gateway failures which affect multiple providers?

Oh well, at least it was a short outage - anyone care to offer Vodafone an extedned runtime module or three?
