By the way just before you all flip out I have a firewall that is caching the file to scan it before releasing to my PC.

Real speed is not quite so impressive. Wink But is still good.

UPDATE:

Had a good exchange with a Telstra Customer Tech today who checked all modem and cable performance from his end. Went through the usual fault-finding (firewall, anti-virus, direct connection, etc), and THEN suggested trying another computer on the cable. Why I didn't do that in the first place beats me, must have been all the rain we've had lately because blow me the speet tests returned maximum warp speed results!!
Same thing when using router again too .... talk about embarrassed!

After looking at this and that, uninstalled all the NIC drivers, ran a registry cleaner, re-booted and re-installed afresh. Bingo!! ... full speed ahead Mr Sulu.

I've now gone to my room and will stay there until told to come out.

R.

itxtme: Just checked with Telstra and I was on the new 40G plan, downgraded back to my normal 20G saving $25, love you TC :D

Still doesnt explain my speed being 25Mb/s - just did a re-test and its currently 16.7/Mb/s

Yeah I've only just received this email and I'm in the same situation. Should I downgrade my home plan back to 20GB and pocket the savings or carry on at 40GB? Hmm! Decisions.

Edit: Actually it'd only be a $14 saving per month for half the allowance so may as well stay where I am:

So TelstraClear DOUBLED my cap, I get 1.5Mb/s and bumped a few bucks off the price? This is unbelievable Laughing

This is pricing for cable services. Only available in Wellington and Christchurch.
