I've been a Paradise / Saturn / Telstra customer for many years and had my T-Box installed on Wednesday after visiting their Wellington store last week. So far I'm very impressed by it, it's very simple to use and convenient and I have finally decommissioned my VHS.

Occasionally there is a bit of picture stutter, but no worse than the 'Rain Fade' you usually get with Sky channels when there's a storm.

The only issue I have is that there is no sound on TV3 - does anyone else have this problem?

Cheers,

We haven't noticed any sound issues on TV3 (we do get the picture stutter though and my 9 year old is not happy about it!).

Hey Redr0c,

Channel 3 has an alternative audio channel that when I switch to it I also get no sound, maybe you need to change this to the other audio channel?

When you first change to channel 3 a box should popup saying options, click that colour button (not sure what colour of the top of my head)

ZollyMonsta: The Sky Channels are direct pass-through with no 'dicking round' with them.

Yes, Full Dolby 5.1 (programme dependant) is available over SPDIF optical out.

Cheers,
Grant

Hey Grant,

So it's not possible to get 5.1 over HDMI?

Thanks Kruza,  Have just spent 45 mins on the phone to the TelstraClear helpdesk and after a few power-cycles of the modem and T-Box, there's still no sound on TV3 and they have said we need a Downer engineer to visit to resolve the problem.

i have not seen an options box appear when I select different channels - is there anyway of calling this up from the menu or remote?  Running off the wrong sound channel certainly seems a likely cause.

Thanks.

So it's 9 pm Saturday evening and my online TV guide still only shows programmes up to Sunday.  When does it update?  The brochure says the guide shows the programmes for the next 7 days.  We only got it installed on Monday so this is our first week.  Thanks.

@ChristineNZL that is weird... we had ours installed for over 2 weeks now, and it's been having 7-days EPG.

Check your modem is online/working and do a restart of your T-Box.

Thanks.  I will give that a go.  As we are still in our first week I wasn't sure what was "normal".

The Downer Engineer arrived today and swapped out the whole T-Box and we now have sound on TV3.  Apparently the box we had was on the 'old audio'. Everything now works, but we have lost our recordings and on to our second box in less than a week!

Hope it gets better.

Hmmmm - I would love to be making positive comments about how much I am enjoying the T-Box as well.....after all, when I returned from living overseas in Jan this year and told TCL I was only interested in signing back up if they had HD PVR available, they told me that it would be available with my install in Feb and I only found out that this wasn't actually the case when the tech turned up with what looked suspciously like the old STB!! It is now 9 months later and still nothing.....

Despite being told that I was pre-reigstered, I first heard about it being out on geekzone and facebook - and even worse heard about those guys that were not pre-reigstered and had one (or two) T-boxes installed free of charge within days. Now I am reading about TCL spruiking the service to new customers entirely yet all I have still is a one e-mail reply (26 Oct) to my query on 23 Oct - my subsequent reply sent on 7 Nov has got nothing other than an automated response so far (although there was a weekend in there to be fair).

The first reply told me there was a lot of demand in Wellington but that they would be ringing around the pre-registered customers 'shortly'. They then offered a call back which is handy as trying to call them is a non-starter, I simply can't afford to spend an hour at a time on hold.....it did take me a week or two as I was away on business but I did ask for the callback on my mobile (only way to contact me during the day) but nothing heard so far. Oh, and just to really rub it in, their reply also specifically drew my attention to the fact that there would be a fee for the installation.

I am heading away on Fri and may be gone for up to 3 weeks so guess I will be waiting until Nov at least before I get an install - if they haven't run out of T-boxes by then (if they haven't already) and it would be just my luck that any sort of free install deal will be long gone.

Looks like it might be 12 months before they come good on the blatantly false promise that lured me in....

We got this too today, no data for any of the channels (yes we got it installed monday last week) A restart fixed it but I'm loathed to restart the machine every time we need new listings.

BigBadaboom: Is anyone else experiencing box crashes? I've had mine crash three times now. I get a blank screen and there is no response to input (via remote or front panel button).

Just want to know if it's the software, or if I have a dodgy box...

Happened again this afternoon.  I'm now up to five crashes/lock-ups in just over two weeks.

Is this happening to anyone else?  I take from the lack of responses to my last query that the answer is no?  I guess it's time I rang up about a new box...
