@stevonz I think I have figured out what is happening

You are trying to add a data bundle when the prepay connection already has a free promo 50 meg data bundle

If you need it confirmed PM me and I will help out

Thanks John

Hopefully my final post on the topic. Please leave other service providers out of the equation - I get it...

What I wanted to understand is, can I keep adding a 512MB top-up during the month, if I consume the 512MB add-on?

https://www.vodafone.co.nz/mobile-broadband/which-plan-is-right.jsp#/#tab2

Without a monthly data Add-on, you will be charged at our daily casual data rate.
*After your initial 2GB bundle has either expired or been exhausted if you use the Vodem without purchasing either a 100MB Broadband Lite or 512 MB Broadband Surfer Add-on, the credit will be consumed at our daily rate of $1 for your first 10MB, and $1 for each MB thereafter.

Please correct me if i am wrong but my understanding is that you can only have a single broadband add-on at a time. to purchase another add-on you must first use up the first add-on. you can still purchase as many add-on's you want during any month, just only have one at a time.

JohnR is probably the best to confirm that.

Any posts are personal comments and not that of my employer

Yes have had some discussions with johnr... going in circles.

"to purchase another add-on you must first use up the first add-on"... this is where it becomes funky.  So I have to exhaust my add-on?  And if I still have credit on the account it is being consumed by casual data rates insead of being able to be used to buy another top-up.

Do I need to disconnect 3G services while this takes place so no data is consumed while I add another top-up?

Cheers, Stevo

You can only have either the BBLite or the BBSurfer addon at any one time.  At any time you have either of these activated, you can purchase additional data (100MB or 512 MB) at any time.  This additional data is used before the data in the underlying addon and has a 30 day expiry.

Sorry I am not sure if you can have multiple additional data packs activated at the same time.

Probably because they dont offer 3g service where he needs it, he has already got credit with vodafone which he wants to get sorted out and he already has a device and sim that is able to work.

Johnr can you explain the bonus50 business rules to us a bit more... or provide a link? I seem to recall that was part of my problem today. eg, what is bonus50 and why is it causing issues?

As for 2deg, XT, I agree - it's really annoying to get spam. It made this thread really hard to follow.

When I was using the vodafone prepay on a phone, I found it confusing with multiple expiration and balances on different addons, and having the first addon renew when I was still using the extra addon for more data etc.

I'm not saying that's what happened to the OP, but it is bloody confusing, and not helped by the fact that the call center staff in a foreign land had minimal concept of what they were.

Don't get me started on that one!  I'm just waiting for a 2Deg solution that suits my requirements.... but I do like that vf have local guys on the forums.  Just not calling a l1hd again.
