No. Typically rumors like this start appearing every few months,

it would be highly unlikely that Vodafone would ever directly copy a promotion done by telecom.

The real question is, have you heard this from anyone of any note? (Or did you get a forwarded text saying they were?)

Its unlikely that Vodafone will copy $10 text. They may offer bundles of similar value at some point, but they would do it with a sufficient point of difference to ensure they can market it as a better product (I would assume)

I think your statement is like saying the Martins are coming and bulk panic sets in with rioting and looting he he

Vodafone have stated that if they matched $10.00 txt directly this woul start a price war and devalaue this service.  Why would Vodafone directly offer this? As Telecom would then bring out $9.00 txt messaging then $5.00 txt messaging would be great for the consumer but would you see this happening???

Cut prices on one thing they Vodafone and Telecom would have to make up lost millions on other services that you and I would have to pay for. I dont see why we need $10.00 txt for a small amout of users on both networks as people like us on higher plans are subsidising them.  In fact I wish they would put up the price and get my children away from the constant addiction of txting.

Im sure that to have a offer like this where its currently matched by their you choose plans where there addons like txt 100 txt 1000 would be of greater value to users and Vodadfone as they are a business at the end of the day not a charity.

$10.00 txt will if Vodafone went down that slippery path the rest of us would have to carry the cost of higher calls and locked in plans.

Vodafone already have $9.95 TXT that gives you double the number of messages than Telecom - it's just that it's on network only.

Doesn't Telecom still have that too, in the form of their boost branding?

I remember it was something like 1000 027-025/027 sms for $10.
If its true, its almost as good as Vodas offer and doesn't come with a 2 year contract.

With their continual extra topup offers prepay customer already get better value for money than many contract customers! I know of somebody who only uses a prepay for the parking meters here in Wgtn and he gets great value for money, he's had 3 of the topup SMS's since Xmas so always puts it to good use!

Free text weekend is good, but a lot of people get carried away which ruins it... Still quite a few of those 'If you pass this onto people, Vodafone will give you $20" spam messages.
