I followed the setup wizard for a Linksys WRT54G on my new TCL broadband connection, believed the instructions and of course lost my internet connection.
TCL talked me through the TCP/IP settings to reestablish my connection...
Ok how do I set up the wireless router to work...Foot in mouth TCL are not very helpful
I presume the static IP address has to be on my computer.. tied to the MAC address on my router/switch
Do I need to use a 2nd network card to get a LAN wireless to work
A little guidance would be great from someone in the know

Hi Martino - in fact the static IP address needs to be set up on the router NOT your computer ... Plug the modem into the router and the router to the computer (LAN cable). Go to (the routers address). You'll have to get past the password screen: leave the user name blank but put "admin" for password. Go to the setup tab. Select Static IP, then fill in all the IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS details from telstraclear.

Scroll down to Network setup: Local IP address should be and the subnet mask will be
The DHCP server should be enabled. Set Starting IP address to This will supply IP addresses to all computers on your network automatically.

Back to your pcs settings:
In Network Connections, make sure the relevant Local Area Conection Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties are set to "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically"

Hope this helps

ps you will need a wireless network card to wirelessly connect to the router. Setup a wireless network name (SSID) on the router.

Cheers - Michael.

You might want to do this part first, because if your telsraclear IP settings are set in your computer (this is assuming the TC settings are on the same connection you're using to configure the router), you're going to have "fun" trying to get into the router's setup page! (ie, set your computer to automatically get an IP from your router. Then go into your router's setup page and plug in the static IP info/dns etc etc.
