Has anyone else had really long T-Box single recordings?  For the 2nd time in as many weeks I have had a 980 min (no exaggeration) recording of the TV3 news and everything following for the 16 hrs following!!!

I initially couldn't work out why my % HDD was shrinking fast with few actual recordings....

No, I haven't ever come across that one!

However, I was looking forward to watching my recording of Prime Rocks Mark Knopfler recently, only to find my T-Box had recorded Sky Sport 2 ( a channel I don't even subscribe to! ).

Nope, never experienced either of the two problems spelled out above. Sounds like faults worth ringing TC about to me.

Hi all,

I have been told for the last 3-4 weeks by TelstraClear that a major T-Box update is coming (they are trying to keep my business). The software was suppose to be updated by the end of September. Has anybody else heard this or had the update?

Cheers,
Darren

Darren, the last update on Geekzone we've had from Gary, was on the 7th Sep, when we were told that Digisoft should begin quality testing starting around the 24th Sep.  Presumably, after that, TC would then perform their own QA locally. There's been no news since, and my TBOX has not recieved any updates yet. My best guess would be an update due end of this month if QA does not highlight a glitch.

Hi Darren,

There was in interim update applied a few weeks ago to fix sudden and I believe unexpected responsiveness bugs, but this was separate to the major update you are probably thinking of.  The last update on this thread by TelstraClear is here

Cheers
Kirk

Thanks for the replies guys.

I have phoned Telstra twice (1st time a month ago, 2nd time 2 weeks ago) to cancel my T-Box and they keep telling me a major update is coming. I do believe them, im just concerned it wont be out until xmas. I think im out of time as the mrs is chewing my ear off that the one program she watches 'Coronation Street' does not record well. Picture skipping, green lines, fuzzy stuff, shot from a minute before is just not doing it for her. It was cutting the end off each time as well but I hope i have fixed that now with the help of the info about the padding buffer / series link issues from these forums. Its a shame as I actually think the T-Box has a much better look and feel than MySky but it just doesn't record very well.

BTW a technician came out a couple of days after it was installed but there was nothing he could do for us. Telstra is also being very good about it all which is awesome. Smile

I only needed to reboot twice last month, so perhaps things have improved?. I still get the odd flashes of Green (pixellation?) and freezing though.

I have never had too many problems with the recording quality, although other people have posted that.  If the tech checked your signal and cabling then there is little more you can do.  Can't say I have ever recorded Corro and I'm not inclined to start.  The picture shudder is a known issue and is supposed to be fixed by the update.  An post from Gary (TelstraClear) suggested it may be around the end of September, but that date was not fixed (dates are something that TelstraClear are reluctant to publish and each update cycle seems to take quite a few months).  September has been and gone so your guess is as good as mine.

I am probably down to once a month.  Still get the same flashes and pixelation as you are.  Last reboot was last night... whole thing froze. Although my broadband was acting up around the same time so maybe there was some sort of network issue.

Well at least I know I am not alone with these problems. LOL.

LOL! No there are many people.  I suspect most of them have just given up commenting as they are already known issues.

Found my TBOX doing an "essential systems check" this morning, with a progress bar that went up to 69% before it self-booted.  After it completed the regular "please wait - updating" routine, I checked the version and found 2.9.27 08202012-55 ... we've had a firmware update!

Thanks for the heads-up, Garfield.  Turned my set on today and all was normal, so because I had read your post I rebooted the T-box (something I haven't had to do often at all lately), and after the usual Please wait, updating, I got the notification re a major update, and it's going now  :-)  Hope we get improvements on the pixellation and stuttering, and I'll be really happy!!

Hi everyone.

Last night TelstraClear made version 2.9.27 software available to T-Boxes. Your T-Box should have automatically updated to the new software overnight. You can check this by going to ‘Settings’ on the menu, choosing ‘General’ and scrolling down to ‘System Details’ and looking for ‘IPG Version’.

If you do not have version 2.9.27 you can force your T-Box to update by power cycling it (remove the power from the T-Box and then plug it in again after a few seconds, or turn the power off from your wall switch and then on again after a few seconds).

Please note that the software is proprietary and we do not make public details of software changes.

If you experience problems, please log a fault by calling 0508 888 800 or logging it online from Customer Zone / Ask a Question. By the way, if you login (link on the top right of the page) you have access to all the correspondence that you have submitted online over the years.

Thanks, Gary
