ThatGuy2004: Ongoing issues:
NCIS: LA at 9:30pm actually records Sky Sport1 - a channel package which we don't subscribe to and a channel we can't select. FYI.

Interesting - did it actually replay what was on Sky Sport at the time or did it have an error/padlock screen?

BigBadaboom: Something new has been happening to me since the last release.  When I get to the end of watching a recorded program, it just stops (freeze frames) on the last frame.  At that point I have to press the planner or EPG buttons to get out of it.  If I go back to the Planner the program is listed as "Playing".

It doesn't happen every time - just around half the time.

Has anyone else seen this?

Yeap. Same with mine. Happens and half the time.

ThatGuy2004: Ongoing issues:

Last frame freezing and heavy pixellation on recorded / live TV sometimes (mainly during TV3 news and sometimes TV1 news). I understand the next patch release may address this issue. Changing channel etc partly fixes issue so again it may be a video buffer problem.

Playback freezing and remaining playing even when bounced back to Planner.

Wrong channel recording - 26th & 27th Sept recording of 3 News at 6pm and 27th Sept NCIS: LA at 9:30pm actually records Sky Sport1 - a channel package which we don't subscribe to and a channel we can't select. FYI. I record the 6pm TV1 and TV3 news every night and issue doesn't always happen.

About to reboot my T-box again now.

I found when I had similar issues, or linked recordings started failing, that I had to delete the recordings and recreate them.

Well done getting Sky sports - hopefully you got a whole rugby game.

Impressive. Makes one wonder about how locked down the content really is :o

Yeah - it can't be encrypted if it can be viewed, or somehow the decryption key has been downloaded to the T-box in question and it's able to decrypt. Sounds more like permissions are set on the content. I'm sure someone out there is going to have a go at working out how that works.

Hi everyone, thanks for the reports and feedback. Some info and a question from me:

Failed recordings: Clive – please let us know if the power cycle doesn’t fix the failed recordings behaviour you’ve noticed. It’d also help if you could let us know what the failed recordings report when you press ‘i’. There is an issue that can cause failed recordings with ‘failed for an unknown reason’ and that’s been logged with the software developers. In the meantime, a power cycle should work to return the recording to normal operation.

Keep function: Jason – can you please give us more information on the behaviour you’re reported with the ‘Keep’ function? We’ve tried to replicate it here and it’s working as it should (a ‘kept’ recording requires the parental PIN to be entered before it can be deleted).

Last frame pauses on playback: this is with the software developers for resolution in a future update. Pressing the Planner or EPG buttons will take you to those screens.  To clear the frozen video off screen, play another recording in the planner or delete the recording that just ended.

General issues: ThatGuy2004 – thanks for the detail, I’ll pass that on. The issues you noted have all been logged with the software developers and updates are being worked on.

Again, thanks for the feedback.

i record a programme, it says recorded, i decide i do not want it after all, i delete it and its gone, or a viewed programme, ie a recorded programme once viewed, i hit delete, and its gone, no pin required, unless there is something else you do once a programme is reorded watched or not to keep it thus making it require a pin to delete, if there is where do i find this?

When in the planner, one of the options (the yellow button) is to "keep" a program.  once this option is selected you need to put in a PIN to delete it.

Sorry if this has been covered already - but I was hoping with the last up date that the machine would be far more responsive.

The channel take easily 8 seconds from a key push to change, and I realise I can put in all 3 digits to speed things up, but this is a hassle.
Also, the Planner screen takes 10seconds to appear, and another 10 seconds to ping up to the "Newest" tab - scrolling from one screen to the next has a massive lag too.
There are a few other things that make the system feel like its dragging a large rock behind it.

Have these been addressed, if so, what am I missing - if not, will they be addressed??

My folks have got MySky and they rib me about the lag on the Tbox so much I've stopped inviting them over for tea! lol

I had my first problem of note with the T-Box in 7 months. Last night I went to change channel when the screen froze for a second and went black.

I power cycled and after 10 minutes I still had a "No-signal" message on my screen. I power cycled again, same result. It took a further 4 power cycles to finally get the thing to respond. I increased the length of time I gave it to respond. However on the last power cycle it took only a few seconds to respond.

All went fine for the rest of the evening. I will check it again today.

My T-Box also froze again last night. The worst part was I was recording a 1 hour programme and it was only half way through so I desperately did not want to power cycle the T-Box but after a good 5 minutes it just would not respond so I had to power cycle and of course it halted my recording and wouldn't let me pick up recording from where it left off. I think this would have to be one of the most annoying features with the T-Box. Also earlier in the day I had sat down to watch a show I recorded on Saturday night on TV3 and instead had a show from channel 4. As usual all the details in the planner said I had the correct TV3 show but obviously it wasn't.

Hopefully the manual recording feature will also remedy this total reliance on the EPG for recording. I did raise that in my formal complaint back in April. I was told a manual recording feature should be coming out this year , I've no idea how it was going to be implemented. For example, will we be able to simply go "Record" on the current channel? At the least I expect it to let us program a one-time or repeat recording on a channel between time A and time B. It should also let us set the repeat to one of daily, weekdays and every day.

It would be nice if TCL posted a list of what new features are coming out. If the manual recording feature hasn't already been requested of the developers, then it's unlikely to come this year.

Found my T-Box response in the EPG to be even slower last night than usual. Over 30 seconds to move to the next page.
