ChristineNZL: I just meant I record the next programme on straight afterwards the one I want to record. Not an ideal solution but it works.

As for recording programmes playing through the TV Box on my HDD recorder - have not had any success with that. I used to have no problems with the old Telstra box but now I get a copy protection message which annoys me as you can tape channel 2 via Freeview and it's the same channel so why the copy protection?
OIC. My expensive (at the time of purchase) HDD/DVD recorder is now only good for playing DVDs. I miss my old Digital Decoder. I also miss not being able to see in the T-Box the TV channel as on the old box. Not being able to adjust the length of 'padding' before and at the end of a programme is also a pain. Otherwise quite happy. LOL.

ChristineNZL: I jinxed myself. We just got the dreaded black screen plus we have been having problems with not being able to change channels after exiting the planner or guide. Guess another call/e-mail is needed.


Here is something I poste in another thread.

"Some points I think folks ned to remember when coming from a standard Digital Set-top box. T-Box is more than just a Receiver it is in fact a  computer and needs to be treated as one, and with that being said here is some tips I have used and help two friends that were having some issues.

1. Just like your Home PC  it will not run smoothly forever with out a reboot. Reboot once a week when you have no recording scheduled, it only takes a few minutes, turn off turn on , have diner all done. This resets the OS and memory etc.

2. I set the padding to 2 minutes and have no issues.

3. Clean up the Hard drive on a regular basis.

4. Do not place objects on top od the box, ensures the cables are neatly managed.Ensure the unit is clear of
of other device power supply bricks.Also position the unit so that it has adequate air flow clear of heat sources
and direct sunlight.

5. Do not click rapidly through the menu items etc on your remote, allow time for the unit to respond just as you would with your computer."

With these simple tips I have avoided and eliminated others issues.

Thanks KiwiNZ. I won't change the padding as we have had issues with that (overlapping programmes) but I will check the cables and I do need to be more patient! Telstra rang me yesterday and said a fix is going through mid-June so hopefully this will sort out other issues.

I've had a T-box for a few days now. Nowhere can I find a Search function (i.e. search for a specific programme on the EPG.) The old Telstraclear box had it, surely the new T-box does too?!?

Also, is it normal to have to wait up to 10 seconds before +24 has any effect?

Search would be good, as would Other Screening Times, but so for I don't think either is available.

Please clarify.
1. Do you just turn the T-Box off and on, or do you have to disconnect and reconnect the power.? I presume the latter.
3. How to you clean up the Hard Drive in the T-Box.?

Disconnect and reconnect the power. I presume by Clean up the Hard Drive, KiwiNZ means delete stuff.

And mcclymontp, sometimes changing via buttons is quicker than other times. +24 can take some time and 10 seconds isn't unusual.

It is a piece of consumer electronics, there is no way you should EVER need to reboot it.

You also shouldn't need to "clean up the hard drive" either, except perhaps to delete stuff so there is room for new recordings.

That is exactly what I thought but I then thought that I may be missing something.

All PC's need rebooting. ALL set top boxes are computers.

I've had my T-Box since about October and have pretty much got used to all the standard issues. Lately it hasn't been too bad although I am seeing the "stuck banner" issue occasionally, and have also had the odd lockup after pushing Stop while playing a recorded program, however the other day I encountered a really bizarre (and frustrating) problem.

I had a series link set to record the last three or four episodes of American Idol (I know... but I've been following it from the start). Anyway I got back from an overseas trip to find all episodes listed in the Planner, however the final episode despite listing as American Idol on TV2 actually contains 3 hours of the Nickelodeon Channel.

How is this possible??? Pressing the info button even contains the program summary for Idol so it thinks it did the right thing but somehow picked the wrong channel.

There's obviously nothing I can do about this now, but I really don't want this to happen again. Has anyone else had this problem?

Any thoughts Telstra?

When was this? There was an email from Telstra advising that with the change to ESPN HD users will need to reset their Programme link recording.

We have got a similar thing recorded as KaroriPete. On Wednesday 25th May at 7:30pm we had both Lie to Me and Survivor:Redemption Island set to record. That appeared to happen but when we try and watch Lie to Me it is just Survivor. We do still have both recordings if anybody want to check taht out.
