That will never happen. Much like with a MySky.
The content providers would never allow you to backup your own content. Hence why a HTPC you build your own or a Dreambox or similar PVR that you own is the only way to go.
After I was born, I didn't talk to my parents for two years.
DS248: Tech just departed. Yes we lost our recordings but main problem turned out to be a faulty (corroded) pole connection at the roadside! One of the penalties for being among the first adopters of cable internet? Bad timing though!!!
Unit came back to life as soon as the pole connection was fixed but then returned to bad behaviours - stuttering & never progressed beyond "updating". Time will tell how many issues the new box and 'repaired' pole connection fix (if any). Well obviously has sorted the 'nil signal' issue of the last few days but still have fingers crossed on the long running pixellation and freezing issues.
Does highlight the need for a backup facility for recordings.
lanceanz: Thought I had beaten the freezes by only recording about 6 programmes per week, and cycling the power at least weekly. No such luck. Rather appropriate that it froze part-way through the second half of the Judge Judy double-banger episode on Vibe. I'm sure I could hear her trademark cry "Riiiiiidiculous!" as she tried the case of The People versus T-Box.At least you are keeping you sense of humour, which helps put up with these events.
ChristineNZL: It must be the season for problems. We haven't had it freeze for a while now but last night it happened and of coruse we were recording 2 programmes at the time so goodness knows what was actually recorded. I'm trying to convince my husband that maybe Xtra broadband is not so bad and if things are not fixed soon we should switch everything to Telecom and Sky. I really hate to go back to them but I feel like a fool sticking with Telstra so long. We waited long enough for them to put out the T-Box and then we finally get it and it's disappointing. Still I live in hope they will fix it SOONER rather than later.
lanceanz: What is surprisingly is the different experiences reflected here. I'm sure we do all have different viewing/recording patterns, but I can't help thinking that there's some data loss or corruption occuring over the cable that exacerbates the software issues for some people.
