Seeing the ongoing issues I am glad I dropped the T-Box, I think it's time for TelstraClear to withdraw the product from the market.

bobco72: Glad i played with someone else's Tbox.
They had it for a week nearly, now got sky.
I'm smartening up the old aerial on roof, no Tbox for me.
Far as I'm concerned it does not work, live tennis coverage continued past advertised time for an hour or so once last week and those recording on Tbox miss end of action.
Not good.


That's one good thing about Tivo. it let's you add extra minutes/hours to live shows!
With all these problems,people should just get a Tivo!! :P

here Fog.. go over to the Tivo forum... but no problems with it so far for two years for me... only problem is space..320gb!!

lanceanz: I see it working pretty much as VCRs or hard disk recorders do - set repeat recording for one-time, daily, weekly, weekdays, weekends. And I know that immediate manual recording is something that a lot of people want. Once again like a VCR, with a duration or end-time.

Hifarion: Has anyone had this issue????

 The screen gets a "virtical blind" type effect.

 Your can still see the picture, but every 2-3cm there is a thin black line giving the effect that your watch a picture made of dozens of virtical stripes.

 Sound odd, I know - I quick reboot fixes this, so I know its not the HDMI cable.

 Anyone???


 

Had NEVER had and then last night turned on the TV and thats exactly it. The pull plug from back and let reboot trick fixed but very annoying as lost recording that was occurring as a result. I had never had any TBox issues until the last update that left me with many of the failed recordings, lockup at end of playback issues reported here. Hopefully the new update ...

Hi Hifarion. This is an issue with HDMI handshaking between a TV and video equipment. It's not a T-Box fault and can be fixed by unplugging the HDMI cable from the TV and plugging it back in.

You should only need to pull out the HDMI plug to set it right again and it won't effect your recording if you do this.

You should only need to pull out the HDMI plug to set it right again and it won't effect your recording if you do this. 


Christine is right but I fail to see how Gary can possibly think this is not a fault with the T-Box.  I have never had to do this with any other HDMI consumer appliance.

I don't deny it is a difficult proposition but in this case I have to believe it is a T-BOX issue.  I simply have never had the same handshaking issues with other devices and like most geeks I have quite a few more than I should.  The firmware on my TV is always kept up to date.

We have had problems with our T Box from day 1. I very much regret have paid the full up front purchase price for what has proved to be an unreliable piece of hardware. We have had failed recordings, freeze ups requiring rebooting, the list goes on. Telstraclear replacd the first one but it was not a new unit, a second hand one that presumably had been someone else's reject which Telstra had ostenibly fixed. It however was no better and after another two consecutive problems last Sunday, including the hard drive sticking on a recoding play back, I had had enough. Rang Telstra and got a sympathetic person who fortunately found a call out slot vacant for the next morning. The tech from Downers did not turn up until 4.00pm (!) and was initially a bit cocky saying there was no guarantee that if he replaced it, the new one wouldn't do the same again. I reminded him of Telstra's marketing of the product which spoke of it being replaced if faulty and that the previous one was second hand so he agreed to replace it. I set it to record a movie that first night and guess what? On going to the Planner the next evening, I found that the movie had only part recorded!!!! Nothwithstanding, I will give this third box a fair trial but if I continue to be plagued with issues, I shall be demanding a refund from Telstraclear, go back to a digital decoder and use my DVD recorder as before.
