BigBadaboom:They are currently testing an update to fix a bunch of planner and EPG issues. They are expecting to be releasing that in the next "1-2 weeks".  There is also another update planned for about "4 weeks" from now targetting the sluggishness and crashing issues.

Excellent. I mentioned earlier that after I cycled the power on my modem and T-Box, I got an update. The odd thing is that auto-updating was supposed to be fixed a long time ago, so I shouldn't have got an update then. It's possible auto-update is still not working, so keeping up a weekly power-cycle would at least guarantee that the update gets applied. I've only once seen a message on the EPG that a patch is there, so am not confident that will happen. Fingers crossed indeed!
How do I check that I have the latest update.?

Sorry, should have replied earlier. Power cycled both modem and T-Box (both off, modem on, wait for 4 green lights, then power back on T-Box). This did restore the complete EPG.

The only way to be sure you've got the latest is to do a complete power cycle (modem and T-Box). But to check the version you do this from the remote:

   1. Press "Menu"
   2. Scroll right 4x to "Settings" and press OK
   3. Scroll right 1x to "General" and press OK
   4. Scroll down 1x to System Details

The software version is shown on the right as "IPG Version". Mine says 2.9.22

FYI - even our std digital STB lost its EPG every now and then say once a fortnight.
as is dicussed here - a quick power on/off and all fixed. - no worries

Since we changed to tbox albeit only 2weeks ago - we have had no issues all all.
I really has been a big improvement for family in being able to record progs.
Its altering our whole viewing habits.

I also have version 2.9.22. Will watch for automatic updates. I presume you are not advised when
there is an update.

OK, anybody else seeing the TC screensaver while playing back a recorded programme? It is just like a screensaver on your computer with a TelstraClear logo floating around a black background. My understanding of the purpose of the screensaver is that if the T-Box is left on a menu (planner, schedule, settings etc) or basically static screen then the screensaver will kick in after a predetermined period. Ours is set on 15 mins.

The strange thing is that the screensaver seems to kick in 15 mions after we started playing something off the planner. Now this doesn't happy often, but often enough to be annoying, It also isn't consistent. If we stop the playback and restart it we probably won't get the screensaver.

Any takers?

Another wierd EPG thing tonight. My wife wanted to watch Monroe so needed to record NCIS. She already had a series link for Paula's Best Dishes on Food TV. She got told she couldn't add a new series link for NCIS because she already had 2 recordings set. When she took the option to Cancel one of your recordings, to see what they both were, she found they were both Paula's Best Dishes. The difference was that one of them ran from 9:00pm to 9:24pm, and the other one ran from 9:00pm to 9:30pm. As far as she is concerned, she only set 1 series link on Paula's Best, but locked up 2 positions. Grrrr. How often will we see this then?

I'm not having the problems with the screen saver coming on - that is weird. My system also seems to have stopped recording the wrong channel.
I do have a crash at random times every 4 -7 days. Often it is while I'm watching a program, which then requires a reboot, waiting for the (interminable) updating screen, then browsing through to find the program I was watching and fast forwarding to the spot I was up to as the crash stops the system from remembering where it is up to.

Telstra told me I'd get a refund - no sign of it yet after a couple of months. Annoyed also that if I want to catch up with a program missed due to the system crashing, I have to use my Internet connection and the bandwidth comes off my monthly cap.

I started a new topic last week:

Forums › TelstraClear › T-Box Pay-per-view issues
but nobody has replied, so I'll mention it here. If anyone uses pay-per-view (or Now's Good, as they hilariously call it) I would really appreciate some feed back.

Thanks

I have also had the Telstra screen saver a few times while playing back from planner. Also won't rewind at times unless stop and replay same title or pause/play/fast forward and then rewind. Regularly getting an empty EPG.

Whats the best way to pass on suggestions to Telstra? I am keen to have the planner show recordings with newest at top to save heaps of un-necessary page changes.

I've been seeing that problem too. Pretty sure it only came in the last update. It's almost certain to happen if I fast-forward through my "padding" bit, then try to rewind to the start of the programme.

I have 3 or 4 new issues I didn't have before the latest "update" went in. I still have the failed no status issue but now sometimes no EPG, less/unresponsive EPG browsing, banner doesn't time out, remote stops responding for a minute or so when playing a recording. It seemed far more stable before the latest changes. The reboot once a week is a pain but I wouldn't mind too much if it worked ok the rest of the time. I don't even bother trying to set up recording more than 24 hours ahead of time because of how the EPG stops responding or buffers 3 or 4 button presses then does them all at once.
