Ahh, the irony. I turn on my TV to have a screen frozen in time, a man lieing on a stretcher in an ambulance with a head wound, ambulance officer sitting beside him looking concerend.

And below in the bottom left of the screen, the words advertising "TVNZ ONDEMAND".

Obviously, TVNZ know and this is a conspiracy Wink!  And no doubt Telstra Clear will charge me to access the TVNZ ONDEMAND web site with it's free to air content that I have already paid TelstraClear to provide me access to, and record for viewing at a later time without success.

I am getting frustrated and will wait until my program has finished recording in the vain hope that it will be sitting safely on the hard disk. Until then, I get to vent on this forum and wish the T-box was lieing on a stretcher, an axe buried in its system board...

Well, I am back. I have ignored the few times we have had to reboot , but we just found another one where the wrong programme and channel was recorded than what was booked and what is displayed on the planner. The planner shows the correct show and channel, but what plays if a different channel and programme!

Details, you ask? Sure.

21 Feb 2012, 9:30pm, Women's Murder Club, Vibe (is what planner says, and is what we wanted). When we play it, we get CSI from the Box.

22 Feb 2012, 4:00pm, Murder She Wrote, Vibe (is what planner says, and is what we wanted). When we play it, we get The Simpsons from the Box.

There may be other examples that we just haven't checked yet.

We are on 2.9.24.

ChristineNZL: Can someone tell me when the first T-Boxes were installed?

28th September 2010 we had ours installed - there was a free installation offer at the time.

T-box has been ok(ish) the last few weeks with just(!) one crash/reboot per week required, but it's black screened again tonight and lost a recording. It had "forgotten" some series link recordings too the last couple of nights.
Looking forward to that coming fix ...

Found my TBOX frozen this morning and had to boot.
This is a rare event for me since implementing an automatic boot of both modem and TBOX every couple days back in June 2011.
Wonder if it has anything to do with today being a leap day...curious to see if anyone else reports a freeze today.

Garfield,
Mine is ok this morning, but someone else in the house woke up to voices coming out of the TV around 4am. We leave the T-box with the blue power button on at all times, and the TV is on standby at all times. Time and date are correct on the T-box this morning. Not sure what caused the TV to come by itself!

mattwnz: Why don't people just vote with their feet, if they are having problems. There are alternatives. Tivo for freeview, and mysky for paytv.

Well, at present it is cheaper  (in selected packages) than MySky and has programming not available on TIVO and Freeview and possibly Igloo (e.g. sport). Of course, lacking remote programming, iPhone app, and iSky it should not be as expensive. I'd prefer not to have a dish (it'll rust quickly at my seaside place) and not to change my phone and broadband. In fact I don't really need it as I record Freeview HD already so will wait a little longer to see if TCL get their act together.
(However, in a few weeks I'll be deciding for another reason whether to keep TCL broadband or another that I have for work and I may move if this isn't sorted.)

Second time this week, audio abruptly cut out last night. Was watching a playback when record clicked on for another set program, seemed audio cut out with that. Checked analogue TV signal, picture and audio both OK, so no fault with TV. First time this happened, rebooted T box and audio restored. Have yet  to turn TV on this morning and check recorded program. Suspect it won't have sound, we'll see.

So much negativity. Here's some positive news - my T-Box was frozen when I arrived home, but after a record 11 days. This breaks its previous record of 9 days uninterupted service.

Tonight another freeze up during playback, again it seems triggered by start of recording a scheduled program, which needless to say was only part recorded. Reboot required. This is the fourth fail this week alone.

I had another one of those "NOT SUBSCRIBED" incidents today.  Finally got it sorted after resetting the modem, then the T-Box.  Assumed it was another major outage, but find it wasn't!  This is getting to be very frustrating, and FAR too regular.  Hope that update comes through soon and solves some of these problems, at least  :-(

Another report of recording the wrong stuff:
2 Mar 2012, 8:30pm, trying to record Doc Martin on TV1, got CCTV4 and some show I do not know.
2 Mar 2012, 9:30 pm, trying to record Single Father, got CCTV4 again.

Yes, 2 shows in a row recorded the same wrong channel. Sigh.

On a brighter note, the Phoenix won!

We had issues over the weekend due to the weather causing powercuts. Once power was back up in our area, the Internet was still down, so there was no cable TV signal or program guide.
Even after these did come back up, the Tbox was giving me a blank screen. I rebooted the modem, then the T-box and things began to work again. A tad annoying that while power was restored around 1pm, and Internet a few hours later, the Tbox had to be restarted to get the signal working so I missed recording the News at 6pm.
Are the battery UPS's on the routers and other equipment?

Sorry Robert, I couldn't understand your last question? I do have a battery UPS protecting all my multimedia equipment, but I had to do that. Are you actually asking if TC have UPS in their datacentres?
