I'm really glad to see this happen.

I mean, it wasn't so much that we all needed 3GB, it's just trying to use 3GB for 6 months and then suddenly getting shocked down to 250MB is a bit much for most people to handle I think. The security of the longetivity of our data makes this plan all the more worthwhile. Though to note, the voda website says this:

Smart promotion: All new Smart customers will enjoy 3GB of data and 1000 PXTs per month until the 23rd of August 2011. See the Terms & Conditions for this offer.

And in T&C it says:

  1. Eligible Customers who sign up to an iPhone or Smart Plan during the Promotional Period will receive the benefit of the Offer from the date they are connected to the Vodafone network until the end of the Promotional Period.

End of promotional period - it doesn't sound like the lifetime of the plan that the announcement promised. Is there a reason for this discrepancy or are voda just leaving a legal way to backout if it's too much?

Wade: Exciting new offers ahead or not I am stoked with this recent announcement, as they say, a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush, I'll take my secure data cap and go back and sit quietly in my corner, thanks again VF!!

What a shame. What they WERE going to offer would have blown your socks off.

Unless they were about to offer exactly what I have now at half the cost, I very much doubt it would have had any affect whatsoever on my undergarments.  I have what I need, at reasonable price, and I'm happy with that.

Quadruple minutes? Maybe they were.. Maybe they weren't. You'll never find out now.

No point in me saying what I know because it's now happening. Because it's also not public there is certainly no way I would post it here.

People just have to be aware that fearing change and wishing things stay the same isn't the best way to move forward in life.

I wouldn't say blow your socks off. And I think the plan is still going ahead.

Why mention anything at all then??

It's completely unhelpful to everyone to say "you are now going to miss out on a supposedly much better offer" then refuse to say what that might of been.

If anything, that's a total wind up & it would of been much better if you didn't say anything at all, IMHO.

I'm sorry but what a load of horse **** you expect people to be happy with "what they might get"

In that case can you sign this piece of paper and then I will tell you what you have signed up for, it might be good it might be bad.

Vodafone should have just come out saying, "we are looking at replacing this with that in 6 months time" everyone would have gone nuts and been pissed.  After a month they would have been ok with it and by time it happen everyone would have been happy with the offer.

But no, vodafone marketing department strikes again says they are taking something away and we have to "wait and see"
People just want to know what is going on and what will replace something. Really not much to ask as we are playing for the account.

The worst thing about vodafone is not the plans etc its the marketing department and letting there customer hang for "what might happen"

As I said via Twitter in response to JohnR, fear of the unknown is why most people were apprehensive above what the upcoming change was going to be. John asked me "don't you understand 'exciting'?" to which I responded that "exciting" was exactly the word used to describe XT's removal of topup bonuses and replace them with "exciting topup prizes".

I don't think it's fair that I am singled out as being the only one that was anxious about the unknown change (that would have knocked the socks off me by all accounts) - many others have since concurred that "exciting" sounds a lot like marketing speak for "here's something lame that we'll make sound appealing by using the term exciting".

Not a criticism at you John but just failed marketing team work IMHO. If the new offer was going to blow everyone away why not announce: "Vodafone will be replacing the 3Gb offer in 30 days time (the notice previously promised) with this great deal that will blow you all away. All Smart customers will now get..."

Yea I needed to know what the replacement is now, not later. I have just changed to Telecom because of this.

I try not to look gift horses in the mouth, and was very excited and grateful for the 3GB bonus data bundle. It was also the main reason I went with a WiFi only iPad 2, just use the iPhone's hotspot when out of WiFi. BUT, for me, the reason I don't get anywhere near the 3GB limit is purely the speed of connection. In Wgtn CBD it's often worse than dialup speeds. In Queenstown this past weekend it was reasonably useable in this fashion, but back at home, it's just not worth using.

I'm willing to concede part of this problem may be iPhone (4) related, but to add to this, I do recall VF announcing two seperate speed related upgrades late last year, neither of which has had any tangible benefit to my experience at all.

Then there's double minutes. Again, appreciate the freebies, but I assume it's still VF to VF only, and that leaves out a whole lot of my personal circle. Guess you can't please everyone.

And how often have we been left hanging with the 'something exciting is just around the corner' comment ?

Im fed up with being treated like some drooling little dog left to hang onto meaningless little comments about what 'might' happen in the hope it will blow the market wide open. There have been plenty of opportunities before to 'change the game' but the opportunity has never been taken IMO.

Treat your customers with respect, give them what they want for a competitive price and you will be rewarded with loyal customers.

If you think about it, call time has just been doubled for each plan, so I doubt it wouldve been increased again. TXT's have just gone to 2500 so I doubt it wouldve increased again. 3Gb of data would not have been increased at all. So the only thing left to 'blow my socks off' would be to half the monthly rental....and whats the chances of that happening ?

Perhaps VF were going to give us all new iPhone5's.....do me a favour !

[e] Dont get me wrong. $40 for 60 mins, 2500 txt and 3Gb of data suits me down to the ground and I am VERY happy to pay that in the current market.
