I was reading up on using existing Saturn connections to get Free to air TV...Now currently I have the coax cable resting against the UHF connection on my TV getting a questionable quality reception.

Now I went down to dick smiths and bought a connection that seems to fit both the coax...it pushes in and screws on fine and the it plugs into the UHF fine....however the TV does not register anything and I get no reception at all...

So I am left with the coax resting against my TV which falls off occasionally which is a pain in the butt....and I only get 1 2ish 3 and very bad 4 reception.

Do the connections need to be a certain metal type? I'm not sure what I am doing wrong...any ideas

Thanks

Davo

It sounds like you are shorting out the centre conductor with the outside braid.

Its not a good idea to leave an open cable unterminated inside a house as they can track them down due to noise coming back in from things in your house, ie radio transmitters, microwave ovens etc etc.

From what I have seen it looks like a crimp connector that is used.
