quickymart: I think it's a direct feature on my Nokia; I've never had to enter 050 before and it worked perfectly - but cheers, I'll take a look anyway.

I should have added - for JohnR: does this sound like the SIM card?


Def not related to the SIM card its a handset / network feature

Went into a Vodafone shop this morning, and the salesman said I could sign up for another contract in a month when my current one expires and get a free SIM card, or pay $20 for a new one. Does that sound right? Even if the SIM is faulty?

The SIM is not faulty I have already advised this above! Cell INFO is not a SIM related feature,

The only issue I can see is not all 2G sites are sending out Cell INFO

Thanks John, but what would explain the "SIM registration failed" error then? :(
The salesman at the shop did observe that my SIM card is very old...which it is.
