Just wondering if anyone knows what model this is. Google suggests it is a Huawei E173 which I really hope it is as I want to use it for 3G backup on a SRP527. Asked 2degrees on facebook but haven't heard back...
Their other usb modem is a E3131 is unfortunately doesn't work as the customer already has one of these.
The old 7.2Mbps model was E173, the new one is E303.
Sold in stores right now are the E303 and E3131. Generally neither of them will work as backup in routers as they present themselves as a USB Ethernet device with a private IP and handle the dialling themselves, whereas older models presented themselves as a Serial Modem (which modems could easily talk to with normal AT commands).
Stink.... Will have to have a nosey around for one that will suit. Guess I just have to go through the supported device list.
I have a couple of customers with Draytek 2130 and E3131 working quite well. It is just this customer in particular who we had already supplied a new router to but then they went and asked about backup...
