I would like to experiment with my RBI 4G reception but am uncertain about antenna choices. According to Johnr, we are on the 700 mhz extended band but 1800 mhz may also be used. The current antenna is a ANT0627Y11 698-2700 mhz Wideband Directional Antenna with a maximum power rating of 50 watts and 11 dB gain. It is being used with a Huawei B315 gateway device.

What antennas would offer improved performance over this one? Would a simple (and much cheaper) high-gain yagi do the trick? If so, why do they cost so much less? Any tips would be much appreciated.

The antenna you have is fine and I would not change it

I doubt you'll find anything with better performance without spending big $$$$$ - and even then there is no guarantee of better performance. 11dB gain is already very significant.

Antennas need to wide band as any two frequencies from the 700/1800/2600 range can be bonded, and it won't be long before the whole 3 can be bonded.

I'm sure of that. You have already lost me. Sometimes I miss the good old days when you could just put up a beam antenna and point it at the signal.

Do you have a dual antenna setup? If not, that would be the best thing to do next.

No. Just the single wide-band one. My signal quality isn't actually bad, I was just wondering if I could improve it in a simple way. That appears not to be the case.

Yes, by adding second antenna. Simple, (depending on your provider), or do it yourself.

And how would I go about doing that? I'm pretty sure there is only one RBI input on the Huawei.

You can phase 2 identical antennas together or stack them, but quite complicated , they need to be spaced at a certain distance with equal length of cabling etc. The signal increase is not x2 either as  you lose some signal in the process.

I thought the 2 antennas was to do MIMO, not just signal gain so would need 2 inputs and a radio that did it.

Yes for MIMO. The B315 has dual antenna port.
@rikkitic who is your RBI provider?
Do they offer dual antenna as an install option?

My provider is Netspeed. They resell Vodafone. This is already beyond my experience.
