I'm down on the Coast visiting family. A fair few of my relatives are crying out for decent broadband, and all are interested in RBI wireless via Vodafone. However when they have tried to get it, they have all been told a story along the lines of "the transmitter at Mt Sewell (I think?) needs to be upgraded before you can get wireless RBI". The coverage map on the Vodafone website has said that all of these people will have service available "within 12 months" (currently it shows them as marginal to nothing) - but some of them have been appearing that way on the coverage map for over 2 years.

My question is, how far along is the upgrading process for this area? I know of quite a few people who would love wireless RBI (and yes, they most definitely are in the coverage area) but are stuck waiting for the site to be upgraded. Can anyone from Vodafone assist?

Thanks smile

Very high probability if it's on the planned coverage map, then it will happen this year. Not many sites left to be upgraded / built now.

The West Coast of the South Island (Mt Sewell/Paparoa is the serving cellsite).

Barrytown is all upgraded. I don't see Punakaiki on the list though; but VDSL in this town. Maybe a street name will help?

That's the one. Mostly north of Blackball. Hopefully it will finally get upgraded later this year.
