Not sure if this is the right forum so please feel free to put it into the correct place. Right now I'm in the process of sorting out my mobile account, my partner is leaving her job and will no longer have a paid work phone.

Having a quick look it seems that if you don't want to pay $40 a month then prepay is your only option. Prepay is fine for low users in terms of value but you have the annoyance of having to top up once a month. It would be nice to see the telcos bring in a low end $20-25 plan or to actually be pioneering and let you create a custom plan i.e. your required amount of voice, txt and data. I just want to be able to have two mobiles on one bill without having to pay $80 a month!

Is anyone else in the same boat?

I use Skinny and don't have to manually top up; I've linked the account to my credit card. Presumably other providers have a similar system.

Only warehouse have the monthly topup requirements, the others all let you keep any ballance for a year, so you can just top up whenever, the packs will renew so long as you have enough left on it.

I spend $20 once a year with Vodafone prepay.

Wife's iPhone is on the Skinny $16 plan. I have an automatic $20 topup setup every month and the $16 pack renews 5 days after the topup. Eventually there will be quite a bit of extra credit in there and I will be able to pause the CC topup for a couple of months.

No issues, and now that it has 1GB of rollover (at least until Sept) it is perfect for her.
