Hi All,

I'm looking to buy a factory unlocked Samsung Galaxy S8 when I travel to the United States in September.

I believe the model number is G950U.

I wanted to know if this model will work on all NZ carriers? I'm pretty new to all the different frequency types

Thanks for your help!

If you're not worried about 4G coverage it'll work OK.

In the areas it will work on 4G you probably won't have access to dusl carrier 4G.

It's pretty much a bad idea buying any handset in the US but plenty of people do it.

I would avoid it as you can miss out on network features like CA and better battery life

Thanks for the information all.

I'm assuming if I buy an 'international' version of a phone I should be able to get the correct frequencies for New Zealand?

What are the specific bands that I should be looking for?

The frequencycheck.com link above gives you the required frequencies. Look further down for the numbers in brackets (800 / 900 / 2100, etc.)

I think that carrier agragation is the last thing most people care about.

cant say if its comprehensive but should be reasonably accurate

That website claims that Spark offers 2G (GSM) service. Surely that isn't correct.

Yep Totally wrong...

Spark ran CDMA not GSM, CDMA was shut off 2012.

LTE is only showing two of the actively used Frequencies.

Sites like this are pretty nice, but when the information isn't up to date this can lead to horrible things (No idea where the whole GSM thing came from! it's not even Wikipedia!)

I've touched base to get this updated.

Nope. I'm done now..
