DarthKermit:

Glad I don't have to fret about having a phone that may or may not be compatible with this technology or for payments or anything else.

Haha yeah, didn't get anything last year with my Oneplus 2 phone. I've updated it to Android Pie a few months ago, maybe I'll be more lucky this year.

Not quite sure why they couldn't have used both whatever system they're using now and the other cell broadcast thing that other countries use that are on parallel imported phones (not to mention, people visiting NZ).

Anyone know if there is anything we can do to try make sure it works when we have something like LineageOS running on our phone?

In case anyone has missed the note above (or the advertising), the test is occurring within the next hour.

Yep, my phone just went crazy. I had no idea that this was happening; unlike last time they apparently kept it fairly quiet!

3 iPhone users in the house all of us got it.
My XS Max didn’t make a sound however. It was on silent, and vibrated. I toggled the silent switch and it briefly sirened (for about half a second if that). Strange behaviour which I don’t think is how it should work?

Didn't get it - Invercargill OnePlus 3, Spark. Likely due to the fact it is parallel imported (why they didn't use international emergency types it beyond me)

Edit: the egg has been firmly planted on my face, I got it as a presidential alert several minutes after others in my household. Phone was on silent so only vibrating, no sound.

It came up on Skinny on iPhone 6 but there was no noise with it, just came up as a notification.

That wouldn't wake me up!

Same thing happened on my XS Max. Does all iOS devices just vibrate for this alert when on silent?

Yikes. What sort of phone? Blasting your eardrums out is not a good idea!
