Hey guys

You know the telephone company is a way promoting shares data for family or use your current data on other device, but the things is how can it is so expensive for an additional connection like $25-29..

whats the points of having this kind of facilities and it seems we better off opening a new connection instead.

if the additional connection is $10 each, i am happily going to pay for this services...

just a thoughts anyway.

Jacky

Data sharing can be done between a Postpay and a prepaid connection on 2degrees as well

Vodafone data sharing is free (or $10 if you sign up when they're not running a promo) and 2degrees let you share data between any device for free.

If you're subscribing to one of the share plans such as Vodafone's Red Share for $19 the plan offers unlimited minutes and SMS along with data share. I think this is a very reasonable price for this offering.

Related, and probably not worth creating another topic for.

My phone is with 2D, on pre-pay. I have a Nexus 7 tablet with Sim slot (but currently no Sim) mounted in my Cruiser that has Torque OBDII monitoring, TPMS and Waze running on it. I normally just hotspot from my phone to the tablet for data but somedays this is rather a pain and I'd just like to put a sim in the tablet. Is it possible to do this and only use the data from the phone account? Not an issue if I have to change to post-pay but just curious as to any options if this is possible.

@Ge0rge The question is answered in the link above I posted

" If you’re on an eligible Pay Monthly or Business Mobile Plan, you can share your NZ data with up to 5 family and friends who are also with 2degrees, for free! Or if you’d prefer to keep it for yourself, you can share it across up to five of your devices with 2degrees SIMs. Either way, sharing is caring "

I would love it if Skinny had a better data share option, similar to 2 degrees (where you have one main plan, and can share data for free to 5 other prepay devices, with no limitations such as expiry, only limit is the amount of data on main plan)

Currently Skinny only offer 'Gifting', where each gift transaction costs 50 cents, and you can only gift a maximum of 500 MB in one transaction, and 1 GB per 28 day period.
Plus the very annoying part is, the person receiving the gift only has 7 days to use it (if its a prepay plan, not rollver).

Pretty useless if I have my main rollover plan with Skinny, and want to share data to a SIM in a wireless modem at holiday house, or to Wife's phone, or to a tablet.

See: https://support.skinny.co.nz/article/skinny-gifting-faqs-601.html and

Would change everything over to 2 degrees (and use free data sharing), but unfortunately the network isn't as good as Skinny in the places we travel to :(

Thanks @Linux, I musn't have quite read your initail post right the first time. That's what I was after - It would seem I have to change to Post Paid, and spend an extra $11 a month for the privelige essentially. Is there any ongoing cost for the second sim - I guess I'd need to top it up $20 a year to keep it alive?

one of the reasons i stay with 2degrees now is data sharing.  Have 3 devices sharing my plan data :)
