I am paying Spark $29 for 2GB every 28 days, am going to move to ~$35 a month and get 32GB. That’s a game changer for me. I have no problem paying in advance to save $

Here's one advantage over some of the competition (I know Skinny for sure) - voicemail is free to use on all of Kogan's prepaid plans.

Do they have the voicemail that doesn't take messages like skinny do? that is the best sort. Tell people to text and then it hangs up on them.

I did have my voice mail saying "dont leave a message and just email or text" so many people still left a message.  Ended up telling the telco to kill my voice mail.  This also seems to be an option for Kogan (removing voice mail)

The discount looks like not for renewal of plans, so an introduction offer, not long term.

My data usage isn't constant month to month, so without roll over doesn't look ideal there to.

Have over 2000 minutes on Skinny $16 plan so calls not a problem. Most comms to mates are by text.

See what happens.....but for now prefer flexibility.

Have just ordered a Kogan SIM and going to try out their introductory offer and see how it goes.

I am unlikely to port my number to them though, more trying the service for such an awesome intro deal.

The 32GB deal (# superscript) says it doesn't apply to renewals, but the yearly plans (^ superscript) does apply to renweals. There is a catch however, it's only for renewals before 11:59pm 28 October, which is impossible. So yes, it's a one-off discount according to the Website.

I have received clarification from Kogan. Apparently they consider switching from the 30 day plan before the end of October to the 365 day plan to be a renewal, even though you'd be subscribing to something different. The important detail here is that the 365 day discount is a one-time deal.

Does a handset locked to vodafone still have to be unlocked to use a kogan mobile sim card.

@ajw Yes it would need to be unlocked as they have a new IMSI range for kogan mobile

Fair warning... the email marketing starts almost immediately. Highly recommend using an email alias or something if you sign up with them.

For those used to 'rollover' data with other providers like Skinny, there is one significant change: my reading of their T&Cs is that data is metered out on a 30 day timeframe, irrelevant as to whether one purchases a 30- 90- or 365-day plan. It's a matter of use it or lose it, so no data banking like one is able to do with rollover data (useful for the holidays, for example).

Deal breaker there.

I used an alias and also followed the unsubscribe link after the first e-mail. Nothing since.

FWIW, I have purchased from Kogan before and I've never had any marketing materials after unsubscribing.

No roll over data also the big one for me.  Its why I'm with Skinny, competitive pricing and the ability to roll over the data.  If it had that, I may have switched, but for now I'll stick with Skinny.

A short piece on Kogan and their new NZ phone offerings here - https://www.noted.co.nz/tech/tech-tech/kogan-australian-player-makes-cut-price-mobile-gamble-in-nz?ref_email=am9uYXRoYW4uaWJlbGxAZ21haWwuY29t&utm

Sorry, I admit to being somewhat dim-witted as I'm not 100% sure how to interpret this. What I'm thinking of doing is purchasing the 30-day 32GB plan now, to take advantage of the $4.90 cost, and then switching to the medium 365-day plan at the end of that month. How does what you've noted above affect this? (Would I not be entitled to the discount offered by that 365-day plan?) Thanks for any clarification!
