I'm still dithering over making the switch, so interested to hear from anyone if there's a particularly strong reason not to do so.

I kinda hoped that there'd be some sweetener from Skinny in response to Kogan launching as I'd like to stay with them; however, the <50 MB/day that the $16 plan provides is inadequate, and the cost of upgrading this is substantially more than the cost of Kogan's 365 day medium plan... So unless there's a good reason not to, I guess I need to go ahead and switch before my plan renews in two days!

My son who is on 2 degrees postpaid can save up to $25 per month if he switches to Kogan and takes the yearly pay option and gets a extra 5 GIG per month over the 2 degrees plan.  I don't think the existing MNO's and MVNO's are going to be in a hurry to match or better Kogans cheaper pricing.

Other than that initial issue of really slow when on 4g, I have had no issues with this other than normal vodafone network issues that I have with them too, so if you're ok with vodafone then this should be fine since it seems the same.

@richms - I haven't been with Vodafone for probably 10 years at least, so have no recent experience with their network. How would their network reliability rate compared to Spark's?

Its just useless when fallen back to H+ on the phone. Any phone. Many locations. Toggle airplane mode and its back on 4g and working again. I dont think my phone will have volte support when they finally turn that on so wont be able to set it to LTE only if I want to have voicecalls.

Not got any text at all from it I only used the 028 number they supplied and had it for the month to see how much of the data I used without musicpass like I have on vodafone.

Did you port your vodafone number over to kogan and they perhaps have the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing?

No, it was a fresh Kogan SIM (I got a dual-SIM phone so I'm just using the Kogan SIMs as throwaways for the 32GB data). My main SIM is with Warehouse Mobile.

As Kogan is using the Vodafone network, somehow Vodafone is probably thinking that I'm one of their customers.

My son switched over last Sunday and ported his number. So far he seems happy especially how much he is saving.

Help needed please...Has anyone had issues where certain people can’t connect to the Kogan NZ number?
I am new to NZ and signed up to the 365 Large plan and am using the number supplied which is 11 digits long and I am told most NZ mobile
Numbers are 9 or 10 digits?
It is so strange as I can call the numbers that can’t call me. Sometimes they can’t text me and I can’t text them..also WhatsApp messages don’t get sent for ages if at all and Viber can’t text or call me to verify me! I am on Spark broadband so it’s not data connection issues as everything else works ok.
Any help appreciated as I have spent hours on chat getting no where.

@Lolmil116 The people that can't call or SMS you need to speak to their provider (A party) the issue is not related to your number (B party) and nothing wrong with that number length / range it is on the NAD website

The A party network has not implemented that range correctly

Thanks for the swift response and trying to help me.
If it was just mobiles, I’d say that could be the case but still think this should be sorted (ie: ensure all numbers can call you!) before selling the sims/numbers, however one of the people that couldn’t get through was a shop calling from a landline! Also I can’t receive the automated text/call from Viber to verify me either....surely there is something seriously wrong here?!

I have been told I have been referred to the technical team but this could take 3-5days. When I asked about a refund I was simply pointed to the regular t&c’s saying no refunds, however if a service isn’t provided I imagine NZ law would support a refund as it would in the UK?

@Lolmil116 As advised above if network operators don't open number ranges correctly then fixed line and mobile subscribers will not be able to call or SMS your number. Kogan mobile can't fix this as the issue is not on their side!

Edit: no refund I don't agree as the issue is not on the B party side

Thanks again for the help and explanation of why you think this is happening , even if I disagree with your thinking re: the refund.
I can’t expect people to contact their suppliers to have to ask them to update something to be able to call me (and I assume others in my position), especially as I won’t even know they can’t contact me as they can’t let me know as the phone number doesn’t work...
Seems I am stuck with a number that only some people/networks/landlines can call...doesn’t help me at all and had I known this I would never had signed up with them. Perhaps the old phrase ‘you get what you pay for’ is appropriate here.
