timmmay: World voice mail, the one you linked to @hio77 isn't compatible with any of my devices apparently.

Nor mine either.

I've emailed their support address to find out what devices are compatible...

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

3puttssuck: I downloaded the app to iPhone today. Followed all the setup instructions but it didn’t work, then I found out about the VF issue in their FAQ’s. Followed new instructions for VF users but still won’t work. I will send them an email via their support address tomorrow & see what happens.

Let us know if you get it working. I'm on Vodafone too, so happy to let someone else be the guinea pig ;)

I reached out to them and this is their reply....

Damn. Were aware of an issue facing a small number of Vodafone users (who are also on iPhone) where Vodafone is overriding the callforwading (what we use you get your voicemail) which means your voicemail is forced through your old inbox with them. If you are still receiving messages via your old inbox this is likely the issue you're facing.

Unfortunately we aren't able to resolve this at this time as we do not have control over Vodafones settings but we are trying to get them to resolve this issue which might take some time.

Sorry for the inconvenience here.

I guess maybe going on national TV with a half baked product may not have been a good move???

Easiest hacky way I found to do this was setup a free 028 number with 2talk that was just setup to Voicemail answer and send waf to email.

Then just set mobile to Call Forward Unreachable from your mobile to that number (instead of Voicemail). Setup email rules/logic if you want to rename it in a more useful way.

Then voicemails just popup as an email notification. You do need postpay for call forwarding usually though.

Hi Voicemail have been doing this for quite some time

https://www.hivoicemail.com/

I use it, but find the conversion to txt quite inaccurate, so mostly just use it to play the voicemail messages

Be interesting to see VTXT is better

I've been using Hi visual voice mail for a couple of years on my iPhone. I have found Siri transcribes the voicemail amazingly accurately (with some spectacular failures admittedly)

I assume Siri has gone through my emails as well, because the company names people leave are transcribed with perfect accuracy including spelling.

I use this system all the time in meetings.

Response:
So currently World Voicemail is not available for new users in NZ so this is why you cannot download and install it. It is not an issue with your device being incompatible.
I will let you know when World Voicemail becomes available in NZ but I cannot give you an ETA at present.

Hi everyone!

Luke from Vxt here. Thanks for the discourse about our app we really appreciate any and all feedback to help us figure out what people are interested in seeing from us. We are definitely experiencing some teething issues with the software which was expected as we first launched our beta programme at the start of August this year. We have been improving the app at a very rapid pace since then.

Our team is made up entirely of students so we have been working on this as a side project part time but are kicking into it full time this Monday so we expect to resolve most of these early issues quickly.

If any of you do give the app a go and run into any issues and are unsure how to resolve them please don't hesitate to flick me an email at luke@vxt.co.nz I'm very happy to help and would love to hear your thoughts.

As a bunch of you have pointed out, what we are doing isn't revolutionary and Visual Voicemail isn't new but we are pretty damn determined to do it better and hopefully the increased competition in the NZ market as a result of our entrance will mean users in NZ will have more and better options.

Cheers
Luke

Have to fixed the issue that didn’t allow VFNZ customers to use the app? Are you working with VF to fix if not?

We're working on the issues that some Vodafone users are experiencing but the majority of Vodafone users on Vxt haven't run into any. Unfortunately, all of these issues are a result of the way Vodafone has set up their systems which means we have to go through them to get these fixed. We'll be reaching out to our contacts at Vodafone this coming week but unfortunately telecom companies are not known for moving fast especially when it's not in their direct commercial interest so we are not sure what kind of timeframe we're looking at here.

We'll put as much pressure on them as we can and will continue to post updates about these issues and others on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/vxtapp, website and other channels.

I'll look at publishing an issue tracker page on our website so that people who want to use Vxt but can't right now will be able to check there for specific updates about the particular issue.

We have figured out a work around for the Vodafone iOS issue (or so we think), I'd love for you to give it a try. We only have a few test devices so haven't been able to confirm whether it will work for everyone. Check out the instructions in this article https://www.vxt.co.nz/post/solved-not-working-iphones

We also released an update today including a fix for another issue facing Vodafone customers on On Account plans. More details here https://www.vxt.co.nz/post/onaccount-fix

If you've got any more questions, feature requests etc feel free to ask them here or flick me an email at info@vxt.co.nz

I got all excited when I saw this. Re downloaded the app and set it up. It is still not working for me. I left a test voice mail from another phone at 6.12pm and it is now 7.16pm and still no message via Vxt.

Hey everyone, quick update. We have been working with the internal teams at Vodafone over the last few months and have resolved the issue facing Vodafone On Account customers with their help.

We've also just released Slack integration so you can get your visual voicemail directly to your preferred Slack workspace. More info here, https://www.vxt.co.nz/post/slack-integration-is-here

It's a new feature for us so I'd love any feedback you've got and if you run into any issues please let us know at info@vxt.co.nz
