Have had a 2talk account for a few years, can't remember why I got it, but reinstalled the software on PC and everything fine, $$ balance still there, installed app CSipSimple in my poor old slow Vodafone 845 Android phone, rang someone in the BOP (I live in Christchurch) as a test and it was good.

So decided to ring my brother in Melbourne and thought it was going to be all broken up and crap, but to my suprise it was loud, crystal clear, it was so clear I was amazed, I was really impressed, call was just after midnight yesterday and about 40min.

I did a speed test (TC cable) on PC to Melbourne via speedtest.net and was 15mb down and 2mb up, same as local except ping was a bit higher.

So i thought VOIP would be not very good, but I was wrong, it was great, all beit only a few calls though, love the way you can walk around and use your smart phone with VOIP if you are in range of wifi.

Cheers

Nice! My only wish is that there was a decent SIP client for the iPhone. Would love to switch to VoIP but that's a prohibitive factor for me.

Bria is great and has been since the first iPhone version appeared.

Try Acrobits (or Groundwire), or Bria. All work well.

Bria Android Edition, looks professionally and there is even a. Bria Android Tablet Edition $12.99 USD Addon: G.729 Audio Codec: $8.99 USD

There is a, 15min to return an application through Google Play for a full refund,
15 minutes starting from completed download time. With it.

CSipSimple Android SIP is free and open source,

An extra alternative is to just use the integrated SIP client in the ICS dialer. (if you're running ICS of course)

Nice, that Android 2.3 or greater has SIP VoiP stuff already available.

Here I was thinking it would be complex to link my (dream) android Nexus 7 table to 2talk.

OP thanks for asking the question that was on my mind.

You have to remember that when you call an overseas number, it's actually going to 2talk servers here in NZ do international bandwidth on your end doesn't come into play.

Good success story though - VoIP is the way of the future!

Cheers
