I've just spent over an hour at the Cisco web-site trying to lodge a query re a problem I'm having with my SPA112. After finding out what to do and filling in the registration form I got the "Registration Application is unable to process the registration request".

Is there anyone out there with an SPA112 that is able to get incoming DTMF tones played back for as long as the number on the keypad is pressed? I'm using the 1.2.0 beta firmware and have tried a variety of configurations and can't get anything sensible to work.

1) Using out-of-band DTMF with AVT as the protocol the outgoing DTMF tones last as long as the key is pressed. Great. However, incoming DTMF tones are played as soon as the number is pressed but only for a very short duration. For the rest of the time the number is pressed the audio pathway seems to be muted.

2) Using In Band DTMF with G711a, the outgoing DTMF tones are not right. There is a click and then the DTMF tone is played for a short period of time once the number is released. The audio pathway appears to be muted for the duration that the number is pressed. Incoming DTMF seems to have the same behavior as using AVT.

3) Using out of band with INFO as the protocol is completely poked (although I'm not sure if Kiwilink support this protocol completely). Outgoing plays the DTMF for much longer than the number is pressed and then plays the number again afterwards for a short blip. Incoming seems to play the DTMF tone for a short period once the number is released.

Is DTMF support for the SPA112 really this poked even with the latest 1.2.0 beta? Or am I possibly missing some configuration option that will fix this behavior?

I have noticed that there is a known issue with the 1.1.0 release in that the DTMF Playback Length setting doesn't do anything. I've played around with different values for that and it doesn't seem that anything has changed with the 1.2.0 beta that I'm using.

Have you called the Cisco Small Business Helpdesk who look after this kit?

I doubt you'll get very far asking on the Cisco web site. Your's is quite a technical question.

Cisco Small Business Support Center - 0 800 442 471

Follow the prompts to consumer voip devices.

You'll need the serial number of your ATA to raise a query.

You should also set up an account at Cisco.com as they'll want to link your call to it.

Don't expect the level 1 tech to be able to help you with this query, I would expect they'll esculate you to a level 2 query for someone with clue to follow it up for you.

You might also start a thread here, though I didn't find Cisco very quick to deal with posts on their own forums, but it is worth a shot as I notice that something someone else asked yesterday did get followed up today, so perhaps they're addressing this issue.

Thanks for the links and advice on who to actually call. I managed to get through on the phone and found out there was a new firmware release.

I've installed the latest firmware (was only released 2 days ago) but I can't say it's really improved the situation much.

I've created a thread on that Cisco forum as well. Hopefully someone useful there will see it.

Then just choose the latest version from the menu on the left.  I think my link will take you to the 1.0.2 version, so make sure you select the right version, but it's the right page.

Has anyone else managed to install the latest release of 1.2.1? If so, do you get DTMF tones working as they should, e.g. sound output for duration of key press (and no longer than that).

* Im logged in a Admin (with a changed password)
* The Browse button on the upgrade firmware page is disabled.

Under Web Access Management the button for "Remote Upgrade" is also disabled and cant be enabled.

Any ideas what settings are stopping this?

Noticed the Voice provisioning had the Upgrade option set to Y for 2Talk, but I turned that off and it didnt change anything.

Gidday, 

The reason is because you're connecting to the unit via the WAN (Internet) port.

You need to connect your laptop/PC directly to the LAN (Ethernet, yellow) port, then browse to 192.168.15.1.

Log in with the admin login, and then you'll be able to do the firmware upgrade

I thought it would be more helpful is the routers web page actually displayed an explanation of the issue.

Cisco agreed that a simple message would have been helpful and have agreed to add it to page in the next release. 

So be watching out for a change, which you inspired, in versioon 1.3 of the software due for release 'later this year'.
