It's like, all incoming call goes to the reception desk which is ext 101.
I'm on ext 106, when reception is not on her desk, i would like to cover her for a while and pick up incoming calls for her. what should do?

I'm using PBX in a flash. cheers.

Regards,
Alvin

Check the documentation for "Group Pickup" or "Pickup Groups" - it's a common feature amongst PABX but they all do it a bit differently.

If it's like most of these things, then you need to have both extensions in the same 'call group' and then there should be a call pick up code you just dial to be connected with what ever phone is ringing in the group.

I would just google 'call pick up call group pbx in flash' should get you a useful hit.

In each extension you need to set 'pickupgroup' to the same value, 1 for example. I put the same value for 'callgroup' aswell just for good luck lol. Then when a call comes in use the call pickup feature code. In FreePBX it is *8 for general call pickup by default.

You call also configure a ring group pattern, so if not answered by reception, call steps to you any others.

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster and even more now as they are upgrading their rural Conklins. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend $195 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?

Under each Extension settings in PIAF, you will need to assign a Pickup group (do callgroup at the same time).  So in the "Pickup Group" and "Call group" fields, enter "1" for each extension.  Then you'll be able to use the *8 pickup code.

It's worth noting that FreePBX is a GUI front end for Asterisk, not a PBX by itself.

I think most people realise that. I just wasn't sure if the features codes were 'standard' across all the different distro's hence mentioning FreePBX.
