Hi,

I am just thinking about signing a non-profit organisation up for a 2talk fax line as they are paying a ridiculous amount for fax to email at the moment. Does anyone here receive faxes on a 2talk line on a regular basis?

Any issues? I use 2talk voice and have no issues. I don't know how the port of the number from a fax to email service to another fax to email service will go.... fingers crossed!

Cheers, Matt.

I have a few customers on the service, no complaints.

Yes the port request will be interesting, good luck. Let us know how it goes.

The porting process in NZ is a very straight forward one. The big problem is small companies who make out they're providing a service (such as many 2talk resellers) rather than reselling it and can often be very difficult to extract from them who is actually providing the service.

I just ported a clients telecom fax number over to 2talk and she loves it - wishes she'd done it years ago.

Porting was very smooth, she has a shared mailbox that all the people in the office have access to so everyone can view the received faxes

Receiving is perfect on the 2talk to email, sending has never worked properly for me even sending the same file back to them. No drama tho, as I can always plug the MFC into an ATA to send, or else do it at work where fax is still used a lot for the elderly customers.

2 clients using it...  no complaints at all.

Yes. It's still very common in some sectors.

We use it lots in legal services, mostly because the banks seem to be stuck in the 90's when it comes to sale and purchase stuff.

Fax is still good for banking, although some banks now seem to have phased it out, but they still don't have secure email that you can add attachments to.

Some Doctors are pretty big on faxes prescriptions too.

The fax-to-email services works really well. The email-to-fax service though can be hit and miss depending on the attachment you try to use.

The full proof option is have incoming faxes go to email and then use a standard fax machine on a SPA112 for sending.

Thanks guys,

I have started the port process. It will be interesting to see what happens. The outfit that holds the current fax number is not a telco so I am not anticipating that the port process will go smoothly. It will save around $34 per month over the current provider which is a savings not to be sneezed at. If all else fails we will just set up a new number.

Cheers, Matt.
