Just following VOIP discussion but I have a problem identifying my Skinny VDSL modem.

At present I am handling my VOIP (with 2Talk) with a Linksys SP2102, but wondering if I can just use my HG659 to do it all.

Info:

Physically looks like a HG659 as shown on a Spark image.

Label on back of modem shows HG659

Modem System Info shows HG659 and Hardware Ver.B

Software vers V100R001C297B011

Any help would be appreciated (including VoIP config if possible)

TIA

My first ever network connection was a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.

You should be able to configure the voip ports on the router to replace the Linksys.
I haven't done that yet, but will look into it, as I am also in need of adding another couple of analogue lines to my Installation.
Let me know of you figure it out before I do, otherwise I will let you know.
Best,
Dan

For those interested, I have it working on the HG659b.

Turns out it was a TCP setting in the phone setup - defaulted to UDP on the SIP Transport.

Message waiting light also to off, now all lines appear and I have voicemail on each one, flags a message and indicator when theres a VM and all lines ring as they should.

Beer for me tonight!cool

Best,

Dan

Where do I find the TCP setting in the phone setup?

I have hunted thru my HG659 HW ver.B (web interface) and can't see any UDP - SIP Transport setting.

Maybe the FW is different for my router (Skinny VDSL). Guess I may be looking in the wrong places.

Thanks

I don't believe it's on the unit, in my case I needed to log into the GUI on my Cisco Voip phones and change the configuration on each phone unit.

Best,
Dan

Not the HG659 ATA solution I am looking for.

Which part was the solution??

"Turns out it was a TCP setting in the phone setup - defaulted to UDP on the SIP Transport."

You need to change the transport setting from UDP to TCP.

Where is that transport settings i cant find it within the router settings ,

As mentioned a couple of posts above, it was a phone setting not router.

Hmm , so i imagine the setting is just for VOIP phones , bugger , i use to have vodafone RBI where just a normal phone plugged into the router and that was it .

Anyone tried using the 659b as a wifi repeater and as a voice device behind an existing router.

I was considering enabling the WAN port as VOICE only and a static IP on the LAN side with no DHCP.

Has anyone got this B026 firmware upgrade to fully work for VOIP on Vodafone VDSL?
