What's everyone using for Outbound fax?

I've completed several VoIP transitions in the past year or so but fax is one of those things that just wont die. Several of our clients still send outbound fax functionality -- who's the best provider? Our current provider that provides VoIP does not supply outbound faxing services.

So I'm looking for a third party that can do this for us.

I know I can get an ATA and hook up my fax machine to the PBX but this is pretty finnicky in my experience so I'd like to use an email-to-fax offering to ensure delivery and not mess around.

Email to Fax with 2Talk. Good enough for the handful of faxes I'm forced to send a year.

Can you buy the email to fax as a side service or do you need to have a bunch of other services before adding it on? i.e., how much is this gonna cost per month?

The company I work for provide both outbound and inbound fax-to-email functionality, among many other things. And yes, we support resellers. :)

Comes with the fax to email service. I *think* it's $6.50 a month?

Faxing works just fine with an ATA.

Personally, I think it is the best option as doesn't require any re-training of the customer and stops those annoying support calls of 'how do you use this email fax thing'.

An 028 2talk fax number. People have to pay mobile rates to fax you. Use fax to email for receiving and program an ATA for sending, or send via email. Cost = $0 + usage for sending, which you get NZ 15 landline min free per month.

I also have this setup on VFX with one client and it also works fine.

Email to fax isn't a great solution in my view as it completely changed the workflow requirements for as customer and imposes limitations on what and how they send things.

Either use an ATA with a fax (which is a 98% solution with as good provider) or use desktop print to fax software to do T.38 faxing from the desktop. Both are vastly superior options for simplicity.

Cisco SPA122 is supported by most if not all.

SPA112 works just fine.

Go to get the right combo of settings to make it work well though. I found with 2talk that using G711a was much more reliable than T38. Some would say using standard voice codecs is risky but have a relatively good amount (just over 100 odd now) of customers faxing that way and don't have issues.
