Can anyone recommend any other VOIP providers other than 2talk. I've had a guts full of their substandard support.

We have a medium size business and spend thousands with them, a problem with silent calls have developed and I have had logs reviewed by 2 different people who say the fault is with 2talk. All I get are standard responses, huge delays in my ticket responses and no solutions to the problem.

I was looking at Kiwivoip and asked if they were resellers for 2talk or had their own gear, they advised the latter. But I note sip.kiwivoip.co.nz and sip.2talk.co.nz have 1 decimal difference. Coincidence? haha

Anyway. I would be greatful for some suggestions of another voip supplier.

Many thanks

I might be looking for alternative soon too, if I get any similar issues again like I had recently, where 2talk are happy to take lots of $$ from my account when hacked calls are made, but no response to any support tickets: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=43&topicid=199009

A few years ago I used kiwilink.co.nz, but they are just a reseller of 2talk, just like kiwivoip.co.nz (all IP's owned by 2talk).

Here's 3 other SIP providers we've interfaced with, all of which are definitely not any of M2's infrastructure:

WorldXChange (VFX)

Vibe Communications

Snap (now 2 Degrees Broadband)

If you're a business customer spending thousands then I recommend talking to Vibe. They're excellent and they'll definitely have something to suit you.

As I read the issue is mainly with the level of service you are receiving. 2Talk is highly recommended here and we use them as one of our trunk providers amongts many other upstream providers.

If you want exceptional service I would be happy to discuss your requirements and explore if there is a fit.

With hundreds of extensions and now into our fourth year of operation we pride ourselves on having many satasfied customers that rely on us for their telecommunication needs.

Give us a call. You won be disappointed.

Please excuse my blatant self promotion.

I would have to say that yes the service is substandard, the ticket response times are awful.

But 2talk is incredibly cheap compared to what you get overseas.

I remember being in a grandstream PK session learning about their PBX systems and the trainers were amazed at 2talks pricing.

Most of the silent calls or one-way audio are due to ports not being forwarded correctly in routers, and hacks are due to PBX systems being exposed to the internet and not properly firewalled.

The 2talk product is actually reasonably good, well featured and cheap - but it takes a good PBX engineer who knows that they are doing and can diagnose problems for you rather than relying on 2talk support.

Conversant have a good product and support that answer the phone. They have live chat on their site too if you wanted to check things with them

Go with Vibe Communications for the VoIP, and I suggest talking about Vetta Technologies (also in Timaru) about integrating it for you.

Thanks everyone will look into all of these. Vibe and Conversant look good. I certainly won't be using vetta, I've talked to many unhappy clients of theirs.

I would rather pay a little more to have good support. As we rarely have issues but when we do they can cause huge headaches.

We use Conversantat home and have some small businesses that use them, and we find them very good, very cost effective and over the years even though their offerings have been pretty cost effective they keep dropping their prices. Their support is very good as well.

We have customers using Radicall who seem happy too, support is prompt and they are eager to ensure a good customer service.

Hey There,

Just wanted to quietly chime in here just to say I'd love to hear from you and straighten out whatever we've wronged - more than happy to discuss separately from this thread (so as not to get off-topic) your concerns with us via PM, email or feel free to give me a call. :-)

Hi coldspider,

Just thought I would chime in with another option being Dial Plan (I am one of the owners), we've been up and running for nearly 2 years now.

We have a network with no connection to 2Talk and offer very competitive rates. We are also postpaid rather than 2 Talk's prepaid and we only supply SIP connections to businesses.

If your interested please let me know, I am happy to give you a call to discuss options and send through some information including our rates. I would PM you some information however it seems to be disabled on your account.

The reality is there are a lot of players out there just offering a resold white label 2talk service. Deploying a standalong softswitch and billing platform along with SS7 or IP interconnects doesn't come cheaply, so these providers are just happy to clip the ticket and not have to deploy any of their own services.

Getting back to the OP's actual issue what was the issue that you identified with 2talk and what did the pcap files show you to determine it was 2talk at fault? I'm far from the world's biggest 2talk fan I would highly surprised if no audio on a call was a 2talk issue. Lack of RTP stream is nearly always a NAT/firewall issue.

No offence but I doubt the OP would know what a pcap trace is, a good provider for an end to end carrier grade sip solution is Compass Communications, based on the Vodia platform, feature rich and not too expensive.
